Sesor holds thanksgiving service, launches donor club to celebrate 10 years

Sesor is celebrating 10 years of supporting internally displaced persons and refugees. To mark the milestone, Sesor, one of Nigeria’s leading disaster relief agencies, has planned a series of exciting activities over the next 10 months including thanksgiving services in Lagos and Benue states.

According to a statement by the organization, celebrations have kicked off online with the unveiling of a special 10th anniversary logo and online commemorative pieces including Donor-of-the-Week Appreciation Series, a Time-Travel-in-Pictures Series and a weekly IDP Woman Feature.

Speaking at their Lagos office, Sesor’s co-founder, Ier Jonathan-Ichaver, said: “We are very excited that we have come this far! Who’d have thought that the little initiative we started after our grandmother got displaced in a small village in Benue State would grow to impact over 10,000 people in eight states and support the livelihoods of over 200 displaced women”.

Jonathan-Ichaver added that Sesor extremely thankful that God has brought the organisation this far and kept it – especially in this year with COVID where they were able to provide COVID-related cash and food assistance to 289 families.

“This would not have been possible without the support of our 30 partners and numerous supporters who have been with us through thick and thin.  We look forward to even more impact and to seeing more displaced families resettled, thriving and healing!”

As part of its 10th Anniversary celebrations, Sesor will also be launching its regular givers’ donor programme called The Sesor Club and holding a displaced persons’ roundtable among other exciting and educative events.

Sesor is a disaster relief agency working to support survivors of emergencies especially displaced persons and was founded in 2010.  In the last 10 years, Sesor has provided relief materials to over 10,000 displaced persons in 25 outreaches in 8 states across the Middle Belt, the Northeast and the Southwest of Nigeria, provided educational support to 188 displaced children and provided access to basic healthcare services for over 450 displaced persons (women and children) through various medical outreaches.  Sesor has also provided livelihood support to over 200 displaced women in Northeast and Southwest Nigeria and is currently seeking partners to work with on providing sustainable housing and healthcare solutions for displaced persons.
