Medical doctors, under the employ of Lagos State Government, yesterday, lamented the ‘acute shortage’ of medical personnel across health facilities in the state, saying that the situation is currently affecting the quality of care patients receive at the centres.
The doctors, under the auspices of Medical Guild also warned of imminent crisis in the State healthcare system if nothing is done urgently. Addressing a press conference in Lagos, Chairman of the association, Dr. Babajide Saheed alerted that they are currently in a situation where two doctors are doing the job of eight doctors. Read more

Residents of Agric Road in Egan Igando area of Lagos State under the aegis of Agric Road, Egan-Igando Housing Estate Concerned Residents, have petitioned the Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode over the shoddy execution of the Agric Road, which is an access road Egan-Igando Housing Estate in Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The residents in the petition, titled ‘Sub-standard Road Project Execution At Agric Road By Messrs Neesaam Ventures Nigeria Limited,’ the residents appreciated the governor for coming to their rescue after years of agonizing wait for the road project to be awarded. Read more

JAMB returns N5b to Federation Account (Nation)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted N5 billion to the Federation Account in 2019.
This is against the N8 billion it returned to the government purse last year.
JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, confirmed this in an interview yesterday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Benjamin said the government directed the agency to take N2 billion from the N5 billion to enhance its operations. Read more

Despite the three years of zero accident, commercial air travel in the country may not be as safe as required due to non-compliance with safety recommendations and rules governing the sector.
In a recent self-assessment programme of the industry, cases of untrained pilots and engineers in the air-wing of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), unqualified workers at the Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), deficiencies in critical safety infrastructure at the Kaduna International Airport, and power supply problems even at the headquarters of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and airports across the country were found. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has made a case for functional SCADA in order to prevent a repeat of the nationwide blackout experienced last week’s Wednesday and Thursday in most parts of the country following multiple tripping of the transmission line along Onitsha substation in Anambra State.

Shell targets 2,400MW of electricity from new gas project (ThisDay)
The Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and Country Chair of Shell Companies in Nigeria, Mr. Osagie Okunbor, has disclosed that the company’s ongoing Assa North/Ohaji South gas development project in Imo State, will produce 600 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, energy equivalent of about 2,400 Megawatts, which is enough to provide uninterrupted electricity to about 2.4 million homes.
Okunbor spoke to journalists in Lagos yesterday at the launch of the 2019 edition of the Shell in Nigeria Briefing Notes, an annual publication detailing the activities of the business interests of the global energy giant in Nigeria covering SPDC, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), Shell Nigeria Gas and the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas.
