“Bring It On” is getting a horror sequel (Metro)

They’re sexy, they’re cute, they’re… outrunning a murderer. Bring It On is getting the horror treatment, as a slasher installment of the franchise has been announced. Syfy has confirmed that Bring It On: Halloween is on the way in 2022, and will be the first non-comedy film in the cheerleading franchise. ‘Held down by restrictive rules, an embattled cheerleading squad seeks the freedom of a creepy, closed school gym to practice for regionals, but when members of the squad start to disappear, the cheerleaders must unmask their assailant to save themselves,’ the synopsis reads. Considering many a high school slasher films involves cheerleaders outrunning the bad guy, we’re surprised it took Hollywood this long to combine the two worlds. Way before everyone binged Cheer on Netflix, Bring It On became a teen phenomenon in the year 2000. The high school comedy starred Kirsten Dunst as Torrance, a cheerleading team captain who discovers that her predecessor has been stealing all their trophy-winning routines from another team.
