Smirking criminal avoids jail after third attack on police officer (Metro)

A thug who told a policeman he would ‘chop him up with an axe’ before hitting in the face will not be going to prison.

Peter McLeod, 42, from Sunderland, was given a 16-week suspended sentence after he admitted punching PC Andrew Jackson in the face at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

David Ward, prosecuting, described how the defendant charged at the officer after he was arrested and told his car was getting seized during a stop in Gateshead in August. Read more
