Sporting Lagos FC on Monday continued their winless streak as they played out a 2-2 draw against the five-time league champions, Shooting Stars SC of Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Southwest derby held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.
The drama filled match saw both teams record two penalties and red card issued against the Tech Boys who sought a first win in six matches in the league so far.
Sporting Lagos FC’s goal scored by Chinedu Ufere in the 41st minute was not enough as the Oluyole Warriors twice came from behind to ensure a point from the encounter.
Shooting Stars got their first equaliser through Kareem Ademola, four minutes into stoppage time.
The celebration was short lived as Sporting FC hit back immediately with Jonathan Alukwu, who converted a penalty two minutes later 8th minutes into the first half extra time.
Five minutes into the second half, the Oluyole Warriors through Gideon Monday drew level once again for a stalemate.
Sporting Lagos FC Captain, Vincent Akpikpi, was shown a straight red card for a rash challenge on Shooting Stars’ Ayodeji Bamidele.
With this result, Sporting Lagos now occupies the 16th position on the NPFL log.
It last won a game 43 days ago in a 1-0 victory over Katsina United.
Sporting Lagos FC striker, Alukwu, was not happy with the result, adding that they should have won the match.
He also alleged after the match that the Gbenga Ogunbote-tutored side did not deserve a point from the game.
“We don’t deserve to lose this match. The Shooting Stars were not just playing, coming up with different delay tactics to frustrate us,” he said.
He also urged his team to improve in order to win games. (NAN)
