A 19-year-old student, Christopher Isaac, was docked in an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly trespassing into a farm and picking mango fruits unauthorised.
The police charged Isaac with criminal trespass, criminal force, intentional insult, mischief and theft.
The offence, the police said, contravenes the provisions of sections 337, 237, 312 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Esther Bishen, told the court that Simon Dickson reported the matter at the Kafanchan Divisional Police Station on May 15.
Bishen said the defendant trespassed into the complainant’s farmland and plucked some mango fruits unauthorised.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the police to call witnesses to prove its case against the defendant.
The presiding judge, Malam George Gwani, admitted the defendant bail in the sum of N20, 000 and a surety in like sum.
Gwani adjourned the matter until June 5, for hearing. (NAN)
