Man sued for insulting neighbour over stray dog (DailyTrust)
A man identified as Mustapha Yahaya has been dragged to a Shari’a Court at Shahuchi in Kano State over alleged defamation of character of his neighbour following a disagreement on the way a stray dog was maltreated.
He, however, denied the charges and the khadi granted him bail under the condition that he lives peacefully with his neighbour.
Khadi Abdu Abdullahi Wayya adjourned the case till July 10, 2024 for presentation of witnesses. Read more
Lagos family donates hostel, calls for on-campus residence for school staff (Punch)
A former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, has said principals and teachers should be living on campuses for effective performance aimed at adequately monitoring and tutoring students on the school premises.
Ogunlewe stated this during the foundation laying of a 100-bed space capacity twin hostel to be donated to the Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo, by the Fadugba-Ogunlewe Family in honour of their late patriarchs, Amos and Oba Festus Ogunlewe.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, not helicopter crashed in Kaduna, NAF clarifies (Tribune)
The Nigerian Air Force has said that an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was involved in an incident, not a helicopter, as was earlier reported in some social and traditional media.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Marshall Edward Gabkwet, on Monday and made available to newsmen.
The statement noted that “contrary to reports on social media as well as on a handful of traditional media outlets that a NAF helicopter had crashed in Kaduna earlier today, July 1, 2024, be informed that no helicopter crash occurred. Instead, an NAF Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) experienced a mishap after take-off for a mission at a location near Rumji Village and about 15 km from the base. Read more
Tragedy as 25 die, 53 injured in Kano-Zaria Road crash (Channels)
In a tragic incident early Monday morning, a fatal road crash at Dangwaro Flyover along Kano-Zaria Road has claimed the lives of 25 persons, leaving 53 others injured.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS1.2 Kano Sector Command, confirmed the tragic event which occurred around 3:30 am.

“How to Get to Heaven from Belfast” will star Unforgotten’s Sinéad Keenan alongside actors Roísín Gallagher and Caoilfhionn Dunne, who play three childhood friends in their late 30s in the aftermath of their fourth friend’s death.

Childish Gambino has debuted the trailer for his upcoming movie “Bando Stone & The New World” during the BET Awards 2024.
A short version of the trailer ran during the commercials during the event, though the rapper posted a two-minute version on his YouTube account an hour prior. Some may have already seen the trailer in theaters, which quickly made its way onto the internet a few days ago. Gambino is also set to release an accompanying soundtrack to the movie.
In the trailer for the film, which currently doesn’t have a release date, Gambino plays Bando Stone, a famous musician who wanders through a world devoid of people before he happens upon a woman and her child. Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital director released by Israeli forces among dozens of others (National)
Israeli forces on Monday released the director of Gaza’s biggest hospital, Al Shifa, after more than six months in detention during which he claimed he was brutally “tortured” and “beaten” by the military.
Dr Mohammad Abu Salmiya, who was released along with about 50 other detained Palestinians, was accused by Israel of allowing Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza city to be used by Hamas as an operations centre.
Dr Abu Salmiya said Israeli forces had deprived all prisoners of their basic rights during detention. Read more
