Super Eagles stars call for peace in Plateau state (Guardian)

Ahead of the decisive final group match against Argentina in Russia, Super Eagles stars have lent their voices; calling for a halt to the killings in the country.

The Police Command in Plateau on Sunday confirmed the killing of 86 people in attacks on Razat, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashish District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

Ahmed Musa, John Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi had their beginnings in the embattled state.

Musa, hero of Nigeria’s 2-0 victory against Iceland last Friday, started his professional football career in Jos with the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).

He tweeted a ‘crying smiley’ photo with the hashtag #StopTheKillingsInPlateau while Ogu tweeted ‘#PrayForPlateau They need our prayers’. Read more
