Suspect kills stolen child, sells body parts in Plateau, nine others missing

A suspect, simply called Dickson has been arrested for allegedly stealing children in Mado village of Tudun Wada in Jos North of Plateau State.

 This followed the reported case of nine missing children between ages five and 15 in the village.

 The Guardian learnt that the incident happened at about 10:00a.m. on Wednesday.        

   Dickson, 32, was allegedly exposed through a call he made to an accomplice before the security personnel were alerted.

 The suspect confessed to have stolen nine children together with his accomplice while he killed one of the victims himself.

  According to the suspect, he removed the victim’s body parts, sold the parts to one Alhaji in Nasarawa State.

  “I sold each child at the cost of N300,000,” he added.

 Some of the suspects who were arrested in the community were almost set ablaze by angry youths, but were rescued by the military.

  At press time, Plateau State police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, was yet to respond to enquiries sent to his phone.

MEANWHILE, the state’s Police Command has confirmed the rescue of the Executive chairman of Kanke Local Council in the state, Henry Gotip, who was abducted by unknown gunmen. Gotip was released unhurt at about 11:00p.m. on Wednesday.

   The Command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, in a statement, yesterday, said the chairman has been re-united with his family, who will soon be debriefed by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to extract available intelligence that will lead to the arrest of his abductors.

    He said the state’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Bartholomew Onyeka, has reiterated the commitment of the Command to make the state habitable for all indigenes of the state.

 Onyeka also urged members of the public to continue to assist the police with timely information to enable them to respond swiftly to incidents.
