Suspected thugs ‘assault’ woman for refusing forcible eviction (Nation)

A woman identified as Mrs. Nike Olowo was on Monday assaulted by thugs allegedly sent by the new owner of her house, to evict her.

The incident occurred at 1, Owokoniran Street, off Liasu Road, Council in Ikotun area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the woman had requested to be given two weeks so that she could get another accommodation and move out, but the new owner would have none of it.

A neighbour alleged that the thugs tried to remove the door, which she resisted and they descended on her. Read more

37 FRSC officials arrested for extortion (ThisDay)

Thirty-seven officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were arrested by the Joint Inter-Agency Team led by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for extorting money from motorists in six states across the country.

A statement from the spokesperson of the ICPC, Rasheedat Okoduwa, said a raid was carried out by the team after a complaint from the FRSC management. The statement added that the complaint came from Kaduna, Bauchi, Abia, Rivers, Kogi and Ogun states. Read more

Police nab three students for alleged rape (Nation)

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three students of the School of Health Technology, Akure, for allegedly gang-raping a female student of the institution.

The suspects, according to the command, are Aderoboye Damilola, Eyitayo Charles and Blessing Michael.

They were alleged to have committed the crime last Wednesday at the home of the boyfriend of the victim. Read more
