TEF, UNDP announce U$25m recovery programme for Mali

The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will on Monday, October 12, 2020, formally flag off the TEF–UNDP Mali Entrepreneurship Programme, which aims to identify, train, mentor and fund 10,000 Malian entrepreneurs over the next three years.

According to a statement, “the programme represents a critical economic intervention to assist the restoration of peace and economic stability in Mali, and a further demonstration of the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s fundamental belief that the empowerment of young entrepreneurs will significantly assist Africa’s economic and social development”.

Among the speakers for the virtual event taking place on Monday, October 12, 2020 at 3:00 pm-3:30 pm GMT / 4:00 pm-4:30 pm WAT are the Malian President of Transition, Head of State, Baw Ndaw; ECOWAS Chair, H.E. Jean Claude Kassi Brou and Tony Elumelu, Founder, The Tony Elumelu Foundation and Group Chairman, United Bank for Africa (UBA) – CO-HOST.

Others are: UNDP Administrator, Achim Steiner – CO-HOST and the UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director for Africa, Ahunna Eziakonwa
