Yahoo boy to pay N100,000 or risk jail for defrauding American lady (Independent)

A Lagos State Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja on Tuesday ordered an internet fraudster (yahoo yahoo boy), Abraham Sunday, to pay the sum of N100,000 or risk spending one year in jail.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo gave this order after finding Sunday guilty of a fraud offence bordering on obtaining money by false pretenses.

The convict was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) sometime in 2017. Read more

Dad arrested as kids are found dead inside freezer (Nation)

Two children have been found dead inside their mother’s deep freezer at their Ikorodu, Lagos home.

Seven-year-old Emmanuel Edeh and his brother, Darasimi, four, were said to have gone missing on Sunday at their 2, Benson Onoja Street, Selewu, Igbogbo, Ikorodu.

It was gathered that the children were doing their homework when their mother, Adesola, left home on Sunday for the market. Their father, Michael Edeh, 52, was said to be with them. Read more

Couple split after 25 years over husband’s stealing habit (Punch)

A Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Thursday, granted a petition filed by a housewife, Yinka Adewole, seeking the dissolution of her 25 years marriage over her husband, Temitope’s alleged stealing habit.

The President of the Court, Mr. Sakirudeen Adekola, in granting the request made by Yinka, said, “All efforts to reconcile the parties had failed”.

Adekola advised Yinka and Temitope to face their future in peace. Read more

Jumia staff arraigned over alleged N1.2m theft (Independent)

A staff of Jumia Service Limited, Lawal Ganiyu, was on Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni of an Ogba Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of N1,170,915 million belonging to Jumia Service Limited.

The accused person who resides at No. 1 Surulere street, Ogba, Lagos was docked by the police on two counts charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Police prosecutor, Victor Eruada, informed the court that Ganiyu committed the offence between October 16 and 17, 2018. Read more

Man in court over alleged burglary, stealing (Nation)

A 25-year-old man, Mohammed Tairu, who allegedly broke into a house and stole property valued at N435,900 was on Wednesday brought before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

Tairu is facing a three-count charge of breaking and entry, stealing and felony.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Ayodele Adeoshun, told the court that the accused conspired with others now at large to commit the offence between July 25 and July 28 at Aketegbo Village, Seme Border, Badagry area of Lagos. Read more

EFCC intercepts N211m worth of gold at Lagos airport (Independent)

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have intercepted gold worth about N211 million being illegally transported through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos en route Dubai.

A statement issued by the agency Wednesday by Tony Orilade Acting Head, Media & Publicity, said the breakthrough was possible following intelligence report.

The report said the gold was intercepted by the operatives on November 9, 2018 who uncovered the gold weighing about 35kg just at the point of departure of a suspect currently in the EFCC’s custody. Read more

My boyfriend robbed me of N4.8m, woman alleges (Punch)

A 29-year-old man, Ogbonna Ogona, was on Wednesday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly duping his girlfriend of N4.8m.

Ogona, who resides in Ikeja area of Lagos, is facing two counts of stealing and intent to defraud, offences he denied committing.

Prosecutor, Mr. Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in October 2017 in Agege area of Lagos. Read more

Gateman docked for allegedly stealing wig, others (Nation)

A 23-year-old gate man, Akpan Ekemini, who police accused of allegedly stealing his boss’ wig, valued at N125, 000, and other belongings, on Tuesday appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Police charge Ekemini, who resides at Kujore Street, Ojota, with stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that Ekemini committed the offence on November 9 at Ogudu GRA, Lagos. Read more
