President Bola Tinubu has appointed Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). Arabi’s term is set for an initial duration of four years, marking a notable development in the leadership of the commission.
The outgoing Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, has been directed by President Tinubu to take a three-month pre-retirement leave, as stipulated by Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. This leave comes into effect on October 18, 2023, ultimately leading to his retirement from service on January 17, 2024.
Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi will assume the role of Chairman and CEO in an acting capacity starting from October 18, 2023, and will subsequently serve in a substantive capacity for a fresh term of four years, commencing on January 17, 2024.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has also approved the dissolution of the Board of NAHCON. This decision signifies a significant reorganization within the commission, indicating the President’s intent to bring about new leadership and direction.
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his expectations that the new NAHCON leadership, under Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi, will carry out their duties with reverence to Allah and adhere to the precepts of service as guided by the Holy Qur’an.
This announcement, delivered by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President for Media & Publicity, marks a turning point in the administration and leadership of NAHCON, with the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer and the dissolution of the existing board.
