This appointment, which follows the provisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, 2007, marks a crucial step in the president’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

According to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu’s approval of Dr. Cardoso’s nomination underscores the administration’s commitment to fostering economic stability and growth.

Pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, Dr. Cardoso is set to lead the CBN for a term of five years.

Under the same directive, the statement adds, the president has also nominated four individuals to serve as deputy governors of the CBN. Their names are as follows:

1. Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro

2. Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo

3. Mr. Philip Ikeazor

4. Dr. Bala M. Bello

These nominees, like Dr. Cardoso, are poised to play pivotal roles in implementing crucial reforms within the CBN. President Tinubu’s vision for these reforms aligns with his commitment to fostering confidence among Nigerians and international partners alike in the ongoing restructuring of Nigeria’s economy. The aim is sustainable growth and prosperity that reaches all corners of the nation.
