In Imo, no respite [yet] for Rochas

The Chairman of the Committee on Recovery of Missing Government Movable Property in Imo State, Chief Jasper Ndubuaku, has disclosed that officials of the administration of former Governor Rochas Okorocha left with the state government’s property worth N50bn. The state governor, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, set up the committee shortly after he was sworn in. Addressing journalists in Owerri, the state capital, on Wednesday, Ndubuaku said his committee had resolved to apply the Federal Government’s whistleblower policy to encourage members of the public with useful information on the missing government property to make such available to the committee.

“We went from ministry to ministry and house to house and discovered to our dismay that officials of the immediate past administration of Rochas Okorocha looted all property in their possession including chairs, spoons and other cutleries among others,” he alleged.

Ndubuaku said his committee was already armed with the names, addresses and mobile phone numbers of those involved. He said vehicles sold at give-away prices to political associates would be reassessed. Ndubuaku however gave an assurance that vehicles genuinely sold and bought with proof of receipts would be left for their owners.

LOL. This new Imo administration don mean Oga Rochas sha. I don dey reason whether Rochas snatch Emeka’s girlfriend before-before.

Will Sanwo-Olu become a Talk-And-Do?

The plan to elevate Lagos to a smart city is not a mere political rhetoric but an agenda that is being supported by policies that will make the goal achievable, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said.

A statement by the Governor Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, said his administration’s commitment to reinvigorate the state’s economy and make it a smart city was reinforced by its growth potential and profile as one of the top investment destinations in Africa.

He said: “As Africa’s most populous city, with a population larger than several countries on the continent, but confined to a space that is less than 4,000 square miles in size, Lagos is confronted by problems that exert great pressure on its infrastructure, especially our transport infrastructure and public utilities”.

He added: “By leading the way with these reforms, we are making the point that we understand the place of Lagos in the national economy, and we understand the connection between confidence in legal and regulatory systems on the one hand, and, on the other hand, a willingness by investors to invest”.

Okay o. We dey wait for results. As you dey talk, please dey do too.

Lagos State First Lady speaks the truth

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has said that the role played by women in nation building cannot be overemphasised as empirical studies confirm that women make significant impact in shaping the society.

A statement by Mrs. Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson, Nwonah Olubukonla, said that while speaking at the 2019 Women in Leadership Series organised by the Handmaidens Women’s Ministry Of RCCG City of David at the Conventional Centre Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria-Island, Lagos, with the theme: “Leading Women Building Legacies”, wife of the governor said that women have been playing a leading role in shaping the nation and this dates back to the pre-colonial era.

According to her, “In our role as leaders whether in the home, in the corporate world, in politics and so on, women nurture generations and create an enabling environment for our future leaders to actualise their potentials.” She charged the womenfolk to have a rethink of what their role in life is, what legacies they want to leave for the younger generations and what they will be remembered for.

Hear, hear women. You belong in every room, like the boardroom, not just the oza room. *gives someborri the side eye*

All have come short…

Christians and other religious organisations constitute the highest number of people who abuse drugs, not those who are thought to be hoodlums. The Consultant Psychiatrist, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Dr Amosu Sunday, stated this on Wednesday during the commemoration of 2019 World Drugs Day. He spoke on the topic, “The rage of drug/substance abuse in our society. What must we do?”

According to him, when some Christians or members of other religious organisations go to hospitals, a large percentage of them do so because of one substance abuse or the other.

“When we talk about people abusing drugs, probably we talk of a young person, probably on the street, who we normally describe as hoodlums, but the pattern has changed to include young women, who dress well, who are church workers, who are children of pastors; they also have problems with drugs. There are also elderly people who abuse over-the-counter drugs,” he said. He added that those, who abuse the substance often suffer from both physical and mental health, like depression, dementia, amnesia, and more.

Shebi una don hear? Time to fix up ourselves biko.

A family that preys together

A Spanish mother is accused of conspiring with her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend to murder her partner – and then reporting the plan to police. Officers say the mother, 52, and daughter, 20, went to police to accuse the boyfriend of fraud, after he had failed to carry out the killing.

It is alleged they gave him €7,000 (£6,270) to hire a hitman to kill the mother’s partner and sell his organs. All three were arrested for the plot.

In a further twist, the daughter alleged that her mother’s partner had defrauded them repeatedly, to the tune of €60,000 in total – the sum they hoped to get back by selling his organs.

Chai. This kind family sha. A Nollywood version with Patience Ozokwor as the mother and Ini Edo as the daughter and Mike Ezuruonye as the boyfriend will be a hit!
