The US is not smiling
The United States (US) has imposed visa restrictions on some Nigerians for undermining the democratic process in the country during the 2019 general elections.
“These individuals have operated with impunity at the expense of the Nigerian people and undermined democratic principles and human rights. The Department of State emphasises that the actions announced today are specific to certain individuals and not directed at the Nigerian people or the newly elected government,” Ortagus said. “This decision reflects the Department of State’s commitment to working with the Nigerian government to realise its expressed commitment to end corruption and strengthen democracy, accountability, and respect for human rights.”
I hope that ‘body bag governor’ is included in this list. By the way US, if you people are seeing this, Trump is the best president since Idi Amin.
It wasn’t me: Ihedioha washes hands off Okorocha’s travails
Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has denied the rumour that he was the brain behind the sealing of Rochas Foundation College, Owerri, East High Primary and Secondary schools, Owerri and All-InSupermarket by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The schools and investments which belonged to the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, and members of his family were sealed by the operatives of the anti-graft agency.
Onyeukwu said, “There is no truth that the governor is witch-hunting Rochas Okorocha. They should show proves that the governor is doing so. The governor can’t deviate from his core mandate of rebuilding the state to witch-hunting anybody including Rochas Okorocha. If there is any witch-hunt it is his misgovernance of the state that is witch-hunting him. The governor is focused and determined on rebuilding the state.”
LOL. Imagine saying you’re not involved yet you find a way to throw in a diss. Touché.
Governor’s wives fight for women’s rights
Wives of the 36 governors on Tuesday protested sexual assault against women and children, calling on the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to create sexual offences desks at police stations. They made the call in a statement by Bisi Fayemi, Amina Abubakar, and Betsy Obaseki, on Tuesday.
The women said, “All medical facilities should be equipped with rape kits and post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent rape victims from contracting HIV, while professional counselling services should be made available to sexual violence survivors”.
The group added, “As concerned mothers and citizens, we hereby appeal for rape and sexual offences desks to be created in police stations across the country where they do not exist, and that appropriately trained personnel are designated to provide timely support for victims.”
When we go get female governors and presidents sef? These women should be the ones vying for office so they can implement these policies because truth is, most Naija men don’t care about these issues.
A wahala woman, her man and a plane full of spectators
A flight was delayed after a furious woman smashed a laptop over her boyfriend’s head for ‘looking at other women.’ Passengers filmed the violent lovers quarrel on a grounded American Airlines flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday.
The woman, who has not been identified, is heard screaming: “You want to try to fucking look at other women, n****r? No, fuck you!” She continued her tirade, as shocked passengers cringed, shouting: “I wear the fucking nuts, n****r. Watch ’til we fucking get home.” A flight attended approached the woman and asked her to stop yelling because children were aboard the flight – but the woman didn’t relent.
The Miami-Dade police department has not released any information on whether the woman was arrested.
Abusive partners are a no-no. If you find one, kindly do one thing: Run!
According to Kenyans, Beyonce messed up
Beyonce has been criticised for appearing to snub Kenyan artists on her new The Lion King soundtrack album, despite the Disney movie taking inspiration from the country’s culture. The 37-year-old, who voices Nala in Disney’s epic reboot, released The Lion King: The Gift last Friday to coincide with the animation’s theatrical release.
Beyonce took charge of the album as executive producer, curating the tracklist and also singing on several songs herself. Described as a ‘love letter to Africa’, the album features a host of Afrobeat artists from Nigeria and Ghana, such as Burna Boy, WizKid, Shatta Wale, Tekno, Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage and Mr Eazi, as well as South African artists Busiswa and Moonchild Sanelly.
John Katana, frontman of the Chakacha Kenyan band, Them Mushrooms, who helped create the iconic Hakuna Matata song that featured in both the original 1994 Lion King movie and the latest remake expressed his disappointment, saying: “No one called us, we just read about it in the media, just like everyone else. There’s been a big debate on social media about that, Kenya missing out on The Lion King…We should have had a piece of the pie. But that’s not the case. So I think, yes, we should have been on the recording.”
Make una no worry. Rihanna go soon release supplementary list…sorry, album, for una (and Davido).
