How to rip off the Leaders of Tomorrow

A Federal High Court sitting in Maiduguri Borno State has sentenced the Proprietress of Dala Standard Secondary School Josephine Udeh for squandering the West African Examination Council (WAEC) registration fees of 284 students of the school.

Udeh had initially pleaded not guilty upon her arraignment on Wednesday, April 24, but during the course of the trial, the prosecution presented 10 witnesses and 10 exhibits which pushed her to enter into a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC.

Justice Kumaliya pronounced her guilty as charged with a fine of N150, 000 (One Hundred and FiftyThousand Naira) and to spend one year in prison custody in default of the payment of the fine.

The kindness of a taxi driver

Mr Olayinka Adeniyi, a cab operator under the Airport Car Hire Association of Nigeria, Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos (ACHAN MMIA), has returned 2,400 US dollars, (about N888,000), and an international passport forgotten by a passenger.

Adeniyi disclosed that he discovered the items in an envelope at the back seat of the car he was driving on July 29. This was shortly after he returned from Ibese in Ikorodu where he dropped a passenger.

The Chairman of ACHAN MMIA, Mr Olubi Ojo, said Ayeni’s case was just one of the many cases the association handles on regular basis. “This is a regular occurrence in this airport; passengers forget many things such as passports, money and other personal belongings in our cabs…We give regular orientation to drivers on why they should return to the secretariat any item left behind by passengers in their vehicles,” Ojo said.

Good one, Mr Adeniyi, but a former petroleum minister and one governor from Kano are somewhere beefing you now.

According to authorities, both vehicles were heavily damaged. An electrical utility box and stop sign were also damaged in the crash.

The girl was taken to the hospital with ‘minor bumps and bruises.’ The other driver was reportedly uninjured.
