Busola Dakolo Vs. Biodun Fatoyinbo: Game over?

Wife of singer Timi Dakolo and celebrity photographer Busola has accused the Nigeria Police of forcing her to sign a letter countering her rape allegations against the senior pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) Biodun Fatoyinbo.

“One was holding a gun, and I noticed a second one holding a letter,” Dakolo said in an interview with The Guardian. “They told me they were from IG’s [the inspector general of police] office in Abuja and that I needed to sign this letter and acknowledge it.”

Busola said the letter contained allegations of criminal conspiracy, falsehood, mischief and threat to life against herself and her husband Timi Dakolo.

The whole episode is just a representation of what our society has become: cold and uncaring towards our women and any oppressed gender, and obstinate religion-worshippers. Sad stuff.

Our Father, who art in Aso Rock…

The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins, has urged the federal government to see the ongoing “#RevolutionNow” protest as a wake-up call to address the untold hardship Nigerians were undergoing.

Martins made the plea on Wednesday in Lagos while reacting to the ongoing agitations for better living conditions for Nigerians, urging the government to ensure the protection of their lives and property.

“The ongoing protests by some groups is a reflection of the growing decay in the land and should be a wake-up call for the president to be more creative and decisive in addressing various agitations bothering the minds of Nigerians,” he said. “Clamping down on the protesters will not make the problems to disappear. Rather, I urge him, as the father of the nation, to pay attention to the issues that bother the citizens”.

Mtcheew. Father of the nation ko, Father Christmas ni. Make una no disturb our presido o. If you talk too much, you go enter jail. Better warn unaselves.

A worrying Rohr

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says the unhealthy relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Ministry of Sports is a major reason why the federation finds it difficult to honour their contract with him.

The German, who had previously managed Niger, Burkina Faso and Gabon, said it was the first time he would find himself in the middle of the political game between a federation and the parent ministry.

“I think this is the first country I see here in Africa where the sports ministry and the federation are not working together. In the other countries, I was paid by the sports ministry, they paid me,” Rohr said. The former Bordeaux player and coach advised both bodies to work together for the growth of the country’s football.

Oga Rohr, please if you don’t like drama go and work for countries that don’t like drama; here, we are drama kings and queens.

Cinematic blasts from the past

Disney has announced it’s going to remake Home Alone for its new streaming service. The studio’s chief exec Bob Iger said there will also be “reimaginations” of Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid andCheaper By the Dozen. Disney now owns the franchises after it bought the film studio 20th Century Fox.

The new service Disney+ launches in the US in November and is expected to hit the UK next year.

The Christmas classic starring Macaulay Culkin was originally released back in 1990 and has an audience rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Disney merely says it hopes the remake will have the “same standards and the same creative discipline” as the original.

So this is the season of remakes ba? O ye Nollywood producers, please we need reboots of Karishika or Osuofia in London.

Kiss of death

A couple plunged 50ft to their deaths after tumbling over a bridge fence while locked in a passionate embrace. Maybeth Espinoz, 34, and Hector Vidal, 36, had been walking home from a nightclub when they stopped to kiss on Bethlehem Bridge in Cusco, Peru.

Maybeth was sat on top of the railing but appeared to lose her balance so wrapped her legs around Hector as he desperately tried to pull her back. But she continued to fall backwards, levering her boyfriend over with her. He could be seen trying to grab hold of the bridge but quickly lost his grip and fell with her.

The incident happened at about 1 am on Saturday and witnesses raised the alarm.
