From India with El-Zakzaky: the saga continues

The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, from India, where his planned medical treatment was aborted. But he was immediately taken into custody by the Department of State Services which whisked him away on arrival at the airport.

The sect leader who left for Medenta Hospital, New Delhi, India, for medical attention, alongside his wife, Zeenat, on Monday, was allegedly forced to abort his treatment following the alleged refusal of the hospital management to allow his preferred doctors to treat him. He also complained that he was placed under heavy security, adding that he was not allowed to move from his room to the next.

He accused the governments of the United States, India, and Nigeria of frustrating his treatment. His allegations were, however, dismissed by the FG which accused him of making unreasonable requests. The US also said it knew nothing about his claims, dismissing the allegations as baseless.

Chai. If FG mean you sha, they don mean you for life. They should get the man some help so he doesn’t die in their hands o.

Food importation: PDP goes for APC’s jugular

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive on food importation in the country was mean, ill-timed and against the wellbeing of Nigerians. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said the directive would worsen food scarcity and exacerbate the already harsh economic situation in the country.

He also said the directive would increase general depression, frustration, resentment and despair in the country under Buhari’s watch.

“The PDP states strongly that Nigerians do not, in any way, deserve such suffering being foisted on them by such directive on food,” he said.

Mtcheew. All this name-calling. As if una go do anything different if una enter power. Please where’s my Canada passport?

NYSC to fake graduates: ‘Keep off!’

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it will hand over unqualified graduates to the police for prosecution, adding that some of the graduates cannot recite the English alphabet and do not know a bank statement. The NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, stated this on Thursday in Abuja at a press conference, noting that according to the NYSC Act, such fake graduates are liable to two years in jail.

He said, “Let me reiterate our warning that any person who presents a fake certificate in an attempt to get mobilised for service will be handed over to security agencies. We are working on fake corps members. They will be arrested and prosecuted.

“If I give you some of the write-ups of the graduates; some were told to write ABCD, they could not. They could not say what a bank statement is. They don’t know. If I show you their papers, you will feel sad. Some people have asked me if NYSC has the power to crosscheck the certification of graduates, I said no, but we have the power to ensure that unqualified Nigerians are not mobilised for service.”

LOL. See serious falling of hand o. How can you say we spent four or five years in university and can’t write common alphabets? Does you heard yourself well before you talking, eh, Oga Ibrahim?

The illicit way Gombe farmers ginger swagger of labourers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has warned farmers in Gombe State against inducing labourers with hard drugs to work for them. Mr Aliyu Adole, the NDLEA Commandant in the state, gave the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

He noted that investigation reveals that some farmers were in the habit of adulterating milk and pudding with drugs before giving them to labourers employed to work in their farms, to enable them work tirelessly. He said that most of their victims were youths between the ages of 15 and 30 irrespective of their gender.

“I want to seize this opportunity to warn perpetrators of such act that NDLEA will not leave any stone unturned to ensure they face the wrath of the law. Those found wanting will be prosecuted, therefore desist from such act,” he said.

Hmmm. Abeg make them arrest as many as they can catch. There’s too much ‘dangerous highness’ in the country.

‘Please speak out to end rape!’

The Police Public Relation Officer of the FCT Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, has appealed to victims of rape to speak out and cooperate with police prosecutors to get justice. Manzah who made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday said such would help to weed the society of perpetrators of such crime.

He said, “Some of the family members who are principal witness would not want to come out; sometime they go behind and settled the issue without the knowledge of the police.

“When we want to continue investigation, you discover that they will be giving us excuses like ‘the victim has travelled or the relations are not on ground’ giving us different excuses. These excuses are not helping the police in their investigation and diligent prosecution of the case.”

Indeed. Sweeping these crimes under the carpet helps no one. People should be held accountable for their crimes and prosecuted accordingly. That’s one of the ways we can curb the menace of rape.
