Google Maps, Lagos Police and a lucky victim

The Lagos State Police Command has promised to investigate the alleged extortion of a motorist by some of its personnel. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said that the command was already in contact with the victim and action would be taken.

In a series of tweets, the motorist, who wrote on the twitter handle, @viva_jc, stated that he was late for work and while using the Google map on his phone for quick directions, the policemen had rushed at him and accused him of using his phone while driving. All his pleas and explanations, he said, had fallen on deaf ears.

“These policemen collected my hard-earned N45,000 for no reason and I still got late to work! This is injustice”.

The fraudsters All-Star list is out

The United States Department of Justice on Thursday named 80 persons, many of whom are Nigerian nationals, whom it said conspired to steal millions of dollars from Americans and American businesses through online scams.

The US federal prosecutors say all of the 80 persons will face charges of attempting to defraud individuals of millions of dollars through the use of business email compromise (BEC), online romance scams, in addition to other schemes meant to target the elderly.

“Billions of dollars are lost annually, and we urge citizens to be aware of these sophisticated financial schemes to protect themselves or their businesses from becoming unsuspecting victims,” said Paul Delacourt, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles office.

‘The four musketeers’

Four of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who attacked a former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in Nuremberg, Germany, have been identified by the Bavaria police.

The Nigerian embassy had mounted pressure on the German federal authorities to bring the attackers to justice following the initial reluctance of the state police to investigate the assault which was captured on video.

An official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja said, “I cannot reveal their identities for now because the German authorities are now cooperating with us and investigating the attack”.

Fatoyinbo: The one that can neither be touched nor prosecuted

Founder and Senior Pastor of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has explained the reason he boycotted the panel set up by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to investigate the rape allegations levelled against him by a photographer, Bisola Dakolo.

The cleric stated that he was advised by his lawyers not to appear before the panel because it was prejudiced and may not conduct an impartial session.

Fatoyinbo argued that “Even our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was given an opportunity for a fair hearing by the Kangaroo panel set up with the prime motive of condemning Him to death.”

All these dribbling and dodging. Shebi now Oga Fatoyinbo don become Jesus wey them dey persecute ba? Okay o, make we dey watch.
