Gbe body e, Judge tells Sowore
A Federal High Court in Abuja Tuesday ordered the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters and the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC).
The judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruled that there was no extant order allowing Sowore’s further detention before the court after the expiration of the 45 days it granted DSS to detain him. “The liberty of all Nigerians high or low, poor or rich is guaranteed by the Constitution. It’s to this end that I’m of the view that the defendant ought to be released forthwith,” he said.
The court, however, asked Sowore to deposit his international passport with it before he is released.
I don’t care who agrees but Sowore suppose do better thanksgiving for church on Sunday if his release goes through. The man don hear ween.
Anambra-prepared royal rumble
The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has said the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, cannot diminish him with his campaign of calumny. Obi spoke through his Media Adviser, Valentine Obienyem, in a statement on Monday.
He said Ngige’s achievement as the governor of Anambra State was too little to erase his (Obi’s) achievements and reputation before the people of Anambra State.
Obi wondered why Ngige loved attacking him, stating that he had hardly made any sad comments against the minister even at the heat of electioneering. He asked Ngige to focus his energy on how to make Nigeria work, rather than dissipating energy on how to pull him down.
LOL. Oga Obi, are you a learner? Or have you forgotten that exchanging insults with opponents rather than alleviating the misery of millions of Nigerians is the name of the game? I’m beginning to doubt your credibility.
Department of No Twitter Handle
The Department of State Services (DSS) has disowned Twitter handles currently in use by unidentified persons to defraud members of the public using fake copies of its symbols.
This disclaimer was contained in a statement signed by the DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunnaya, in Abuja, on Monday. The statement reads in part, “This is to inform the public and particularly social media users that the Department of State Services does not own, use or operate any official twitter handles.
“The service, therefore, disowns the ones, notably DSS 255 and DSS_NG_, currently in circulation. These twitter handles which also bear the service’s symbols are not only fake but designed by their creators to deceive, misinform and defraud unsuspecting persons.”
But wait o, in this 21st century una no get Twitter handle and una dey proud to announce am? Haba!
A failed attempt to revive the lost art of Coup-making
Ghanaian security forces have arrested and are questioning three alleged coup plotters after their plans to target the presidency were foiled. In a statement posted on Twitter, Ghana’s government said the plot had “the ultimate aim of destabilising the country”. Military personnel were involved in obtaining weapons, the statement said.
According to the government, the group was aiming to recruit and radicalise a base of young people. A stash of weapons and ammunition was found following 15 months of surveillance. This included six pistols, three smoke grenades, 22 IEDs, two AK47 magazines and one long knife. Computer equipment, a voice recorder and a Ghanaian passport were also among the list of items seized.
Security analysts have downplayed the claims of a coup plot, saying the group lacked the weapons and mass movement required.
O’boy, everywhere wahala. SMH.
A Dennerby trouble
Dennerby was said to have been expected in Abuja on Saturday for a face-to-face meeting to discuss his future but the meeting did not hold.
However, spokesperson of the NFF, Ademola Olajire, said the coach has an option of appearing next week Monday. According to him, the absence of Dennerby will not affect the women’s national team performance in their forthcoming 2020 Olympics qualifiers against Ivory Coast.
Hmmm. Na so e dey start. Later, all this wahala will now reflect on the pitch as bad results.
