Chai, no permanent enemies in politics o

In a statement by the President’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, to mark Obasanjo’s 82nd birthday anniversary President Buhari has described the former president as “a passionate and great patriot who deserves accolades for his immeasurable contributions to our democracy and national unity.” Buhari said: “Chief Obasanjo gave a good account of himself and inspired his juniors with his wit and other leadership skills. As he celebrates his 82nd Birthday Anniversary, I wish Chief Obasanjo more good health, knowledge and wisdom in the service of Nigeria and humanity.” LOL. So Obasanjo is no longer a “90-year old liar” who “needs a good doctor for good treatment”? Definitely somebody still needs “a good doctor for good treatment”. I didn’t call anybody’s name o.

The power in a name

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that his criticism of government is to keep leaders on their toes. He was reacting to the admonition of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, who appealed to him to cease fighting political leaders, especially President Muhammadu Buhari, now that he is 82 years old. In response, Obasanjo said, “In a democracy, you criticise a policy, a government or a leader. So if I say any government is not doing well, let that government prove that it is doing well.” Good. But shey Baba Ibeji knows how privileged he is and that all animals are not equal in this democracy? Just imagine if his name were Deji Adeyanju.

We need new fear(s)

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has promised to govern the state with the fear of God if re-elected for the second term. Governor Ugwuanyi made the promise, yesterday at Ogige Market, Nsukka, during the 12th draw of the second phase of the Enugu State Government Traders Empowerment Scheme. He said: “As you have agreed to re-elect me, I promise you that I will govern the state with the fear of God.” Meh. In Naija, this fear of God na only for mouth. These politicians need to start governing with the fear of Amadioha or Sango. Thunder has been too idle in Nigeria.

Rochas: The friend in need

The Presidential Support Committee (PSC), Southeast Zone, has given the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) a 48-hour ultimatum to rescind the suspension of Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha. They said: “Okorocha’s suspension came to us as a shock…We give the NWC and the National Chairman 48 hours to reverse the suspension or we will resort to legal and mass action against APC leadership…We plead with Buhari not to allow some [sic] few individuals rubbish his friends because we know that Okorocha is a good friend of the President.” LOL. Good friend ko, boyfriend ni. The only thing Rochas is good at is erecting statues, period!

Money miss road

37-year-old accountant for semi-professional National League club AFC Fylde, Andrew Barnbrook, stole £250,000 from the club’s money so he could pay a glamour model to visit him. Barnbrook shelled out large amounts for visits from the model, paid to see her perform online and showered her with gifts.  Prosecutor Neil White said: “He [Andrew] also met her face-to-face for personal visits, which he also paid for. He would buy her presents – if there was something she wanted, she got it.” AFC Fylde chairman David Haythornthwaite said there was no way of recovering the stolen money, adding: “The sad thing is that the only person who benefited from all of this is a call girl in Manchester and someone we have absolutely no legal right to recover the money from.” Wetin concern the babe? Is it her fault that she has Andrew’s mumu button?

Jarrell Miller and his Big Baby tantrums

American professional boxer Jarrell Miller says “posh” world champion Anthony Joshua has an “image problem” as the pair prepare to meet at Madison Square Garden on 1 June. Miller believes Joshua’s claims of “being a thug” are not true because of his upbringing. “He is from an area not known for being tough,” Miller told BBC Radio 5 live’s Boxing with Costello and Bunce podcast. “He is just talking himself up but people love you being real…I’m more intelligent than AJ, but sometimes I come across as arrogant because I’m a warrior.” Okay. I sha hope he has a ready excuse for when Joshua will give him facial problem. That’s my own concern.
