Naija parents, abeg hear word

The founder of the Omolayo Art Gallery, Mr. Biodun Omolayo, has advised parents not to say or do things that can kill their children’s talents, especially when the talents are just unfolding. Speaking in an interview, he said, “We face some challenges as children, drawing this and that. Sometimes, I got flogged for drawing on the wall or even drawing what they call ‘jagajaga’. I was flogged several times for that, for not reading my books, for painting the walls of the house. I enjoin parents to encourage children instead of killing their talents.” I no go talk wetin dey my mind, before village people see it and pass along to my papa and mama. I never tire to dey chop mummy thank you.

Rochas Vs Ihedioha: Gbagam! One point for the governor

Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has said that governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, has no constitutional powers to issue directives to banks when he has not yet been sworn in as governor. Okorocha, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary on Friday in Owerri, said, “Emeka Ihedioha, who was declared winner of the governorship election in Imo State by Prof. Francis Ezeonu-led INEC in Owerri, does not have the right or locus yet to harass or give directives to the financial institutions in the state over their dealings with the state government. He shouldn’t be in a hurry. There is a government in place and until May 29, 2019, that government should continue.” I’m with Rochas on this. The man should be left to finish his tenure, and erect as many statues as he wants!

Little sleep for El-Rufai as ‘accidental’ trouble wakes him

It would be recalled that from Wednesday night, rumours were rife that Governor El-Rufai was involved in an accident. El-Rufai on his official Facebook page, reacted thus: “I woke up after a rare 8-hour bout of deep sleep to learn that some bigotry-driven, PDP-affiliated fake news platform has declared my driver dead and my humble self in coma. Both claims are false. I thank them for reducing the days in their lives and adding them to mine. I remain their permanent nightmare and not about to disappear from their wretched and corrupt lives any time soon by the Grace of Almighty Allah, until they are permanently retired and buried.” Zagadat! This one na bumper-to-bumper enmity…abi marriage sef, till death do them part.

Of some Nigerian lawyers and unsolicited marriage counselling

Some lawyers in Lagos on Friday argued that, under the Marriage Act, there is no provision for a married woman to bear her maiden name. They suggested the need for women to change their surnames after marriage, warning that retention of maiden name could lead to misunderstanding or divorce. One of the lawyers, Mr. Chukwu Agwu, described retention of maiden name by a woman as “a show of ego.” He said: “? It is absolutely unnecessary. The Bible does not say a woman should carry her home to another home; so, why carry your father’s name to your husband’s house?” Meh. Una don come again. Women do this, women do that. So heterosexual couple marriages wherein women change their surnames to their husbands’ do not “lead to misunderstanding or divorce” abi?Izzokay.

A Penis Festival (yeah, that’s right) in Japan

Every year in March, residents and visitors of the Aichi Prefecture in Japan flock to Komaki, north of Nagoya, to celebrate the phallus, all as part of the Penis Festival – also known as Honen-sai. The festival is “packed with all manner of penis-like objects”. The festival begins each year on 15 March at Tagata shrine, where priests have salted the road to purify the path for those carrying large penises. Visitors can pray to the many structures in hopes of having a child, meeting someone lovely, or having a bountiful harvest. It’s all about fertility, with the penis as a symbol of that. LOL. You know what…no comment.
