Eze goes to school or dad, mum goes to jail – FG

Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has said the Federal Government will effect a policy to prosecute parents who refuse to enrol children of school age in schools across the country. Adamu made this known in Abuja, yesterday, when he addressed newsmen, during the ninth edition of the weekend ministerial briefing.

He said: “There are many who are still working behind culture, religion…Unless the issue of parents who refused their children going to school is made a crime, and we start jailing parents, the menace of out of school children would not be resolved.” LOL. Some Naija parents really need this jail time, do family planning, no, use condom, no: to them every shot must end up in the net. Hopefully this policy will force some to accept the Yakubu Aiyegbeni in them.

A Chinese restaurant and its league of ‘extraordinary’ gentlemen

Following a story by The PUNCH that claimed that a Chinese Restaurant in Lagos does not admit Nigerians, a director of the outlet, Mr. Niyi Adegbite, countered the accusations saying the outlet caters to only gentlemen, rather than to everyone. “I’m a Nigerian and how can I prevent my fellow people from entering in? But, of course, it’s for gentlemen, not for everyone.” When asked how the restaurant defines a gentleman, Adegbite said, “The restaurant is divided into two sections. There is one open to the public and there is one called Hot Spot. The Hot Spot is where you enter and cook on your own. All the ingredients are made available. But it’s only for Chinese nationals.” Chai. Why come to Naija anyway if there’ll be (unnecessary) preferential treatment? Isn’t hospitality business a part of sharing cultures and values, like tourism? As if hunger dey look gentleman face. Mtcheew.

A head teacher’s not-so-Success (ful) ending

The Delta State Government has suspended the head teacher of Okotie-Eboh Primary School in Sapele Local Government Area, Mrs Vero Igbigwe, for allegedly collecting unauthorised fees including examination levies from schoolchildren. This is coming after a viral video that shows a schoolgirl, Success Adebor, protesting against the school’s decision to send her home over her parents’ failure to pay her second term examination fee. “It was obvious that Success was sent home because of her inability or her parents to pay the supposed fees which is not in any way part of the 2018/2019 levies,” the state Commissioner for Education, Mr Chiedu Ebie, said.

While emphasising that “education at the primary and secondary school levels in the state remains free,” he warned that the government would not hesitate to punish any official that violates the policy. LMAO. See how Success and her sharp mouth don pour san san inside head teacher garri. We need more Success in Nigerian universities.

Gernot Rohr: Home-based players good, foreign-based better

Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr, has blamed lack of patience on the part of the homebased players as one of the reasons why he has not been inviting them to the national team. Rohr also said lack of action in the Nigeria Professional Football League also played a big role in his decision to stick with the foreign – based stars most of the times.

“I have invited more than 22 home-based players but…all of them want to be in the national team, because they see it as a sure way to big money move,” he said. But he made a case for home-based players, saying, “I can tell you that it is not easy for players from the home league, they always play on AstroTurf which is not really good for players, playing in a championship which is not played for six to seven months, how do you want them to be fit for the national team?” True talk. Make una win una matches sha. Boys no dey play with betting slips.

Self-medication gone terribly wrong

A 51-year-old woman in China suffered liver, kidney, heart and lung damage and was put into intensive care for five days after injecting herself with liquidised fruit in a bid to be healthy. After injecting herself with the mixture, the woman had itchy skin and a rising temperature. There were over 20 kinds of fruit in the intravenous injection, an employee at the Affiliated Hospital of Xiangnan University in Hunan revealed. The woman has been discharged. I’m sure this lucky aunty is the type that would eat weird combinations like pawpaw and Ogbono soup.
