BMO points accusing finger at Atiku

The Buhari Media Organisation has asked security agencies to investigate the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar’s “unholy romance with foreign bodies especially the United States of America, in pursuit of a mandate he never had”.

The group made the call in a statement by its Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju; and Secretary, Cassidy Madueke. “We have seen how banditry has suddenly threatened to spiral out of control in Zamfara State and some other parts of North-Western Nigeria almost immediately after the election,” the statement read.

“It should not be a surprise that this spectre of violence is deliberately orchestrated and coordinated as part of a game plan to make the incumbent President look helpless and win US support for the failed PDP presidential candidate who is not even known to be popular in that part of the country.”

Mtcheew. So this is the best excuse these people can come up with? Another name for this BMO has to be Big Mumus Organisation.

Nnamdi Kanu’s unruffled feathers

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has described the bench warrant against him by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, as ‘a mere academic exercise’. He also said the Federal Government could not incite the world against him.

In a statement, the IPOB leader said, “The international and diplomatic community would surely ignore the bench warrant. I remain eternally grateful to my sureties for standing by me all through my travails, trials and tribulations. Justice Binta Nyako’s bench warrant against me makes the judiciary complicit in the persecution of innocent people and IPOB since mid-2015″.

Honestly, I’m tired of hearing this Kanu matter. The man should just come and do what Moses did to Egypt so we can follow him in peace – but yeah, Egypt didn’t have Operation Python Dance!

Nigeria, mental health and dementia

A study published by the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the Journal of Global Health Reports, has discovered that dementia has increased astronomically in Nigeria in the last two decades. The global epidemic that has been found to occur more in low-and-middle-income countries is closely linked to ageing. This study also showed that some Nigerian communities still link dementia to a normal process of ageing.

However, the study revealed that the situation was exacerbated by poor mental health service access which partly results in high out-of-pocket expenses that few can afford. The lead researcher, Dr Davies Adeloye, of the Centre for Global Health Research, University of Edinburgh, urged the government to provide comprehensive care and support institutions for people living with dementia as this is currently lacking in the country.

He also called for a bill to protect the rights of individuals with mental disorders and setting standards for mental health practice in the country.

Hmmm. Laudable effort. Everything mental isn’t about Yabaleft. Learn, Nigerians.

Like 2Baba, Taribo is disappointed

Former Nigeria defender Taribo West has lamented the plight of the country’s ex-footballers, saying they have been abandoned by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Reacting to news on the health condition of former Nigeria captain and coach Christian Chukwu, the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games gold medalist said several other players have been left to their fate after serving their fatherland.

“I don’t want to mention names but I have met many of our ex-players who are critically ill but nobody is extending help. So it’s not only Christian, it involves a lot of ex-internationals in other sports in Nigeria,” Taribo West said. “I think this is a good time to look into every sport in the nation and find a way to render help to people who have served this country because it’s very painful.”

Very painful indeed. NFF will sha pretend they didn’t hear Taribo.

Sweat bees and a woman’s eyes

A Taiwanese woman was found by doctors to have four small sweat bees living inside her eye. The 28-year-old woman, identified only as Ms He, was pulling out weeds when the insects flew into her eyes.

Sweat bees are attracted by sweat and sometimes land on people to imbibe perspiration. They also drink tears for their high protein content, according to a study by the Kansas Entomological Society. “She was wearing contact lenses so she didn’t dare to rub her eyes in case she broke the lens. If she did she could have induced the bees to produce venom… she could have gone blind,” said Dr Hong Chi Ting of the Fooyin University Hospital who was ‘shocked’ when he pulled the 4mm insects out by their legs.

Ms He has now been discharged and is expected to make a full recovery.

Chai. No wonder most of our music artistes wear dark sunglasses even at night. They know what we don’t know.
