Chibok: Another name for forgotten

The parents of abducted Chibok schoolgirls have condemned the All Progressives Congress (APC) for using the abduction of their daughters as campaign tool to clinch power but never did enough to free them from Boko Haram’s captivity. Speaking to journalists in Maiduguri, spokesman for the parents, Mr. Ayuba Alamson, said it was unfortunate that the APC benefitted from their travails, but had not done enough to dry their tears.

Alamson said, “APC used the abduction of our girls to earn power in an easy way in 2015 but is yet to justify the promises made while seeking power. I also supported the efforts of those parents in voting for the APC, but till today, the efforts are in vain.

“Apart from 112 of the girls still missing, the Chibok Community and environs have been under constant Boko Haram attacks even till today. When some schoolchildren were kidnapped in Lagos, we all saw how the state government swung into action to rescue them. But in the case of Chibok, it was a different ball game.”

The truth is, when you look closely, you realise that in Naija most people don’t care. And in the case of Nigerian politicians, it’s all about scoring cheap points. Right now, we should be learning from our distant cousin Algeria, but again, ‘who dat one epp’?

Police warning over wrongful use of power

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has said that any police officer found liable for misuse of power that results in the death, injury or indignity of citizens, would be dismissed from service and charged to court. The IG, while expressing his condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the misuse of firearms, said the recent abuse of power by some police officers in the state was against the statutory provisions of the Nigeria Police Force.

“I am sounding this note of warning loud and clear that any police personnel that insists on being incorrigible by engaging in abuse of his or her powers or misuses his weapons with fatal outcomes and in utter disregard of statutory provisions will be arrested, investigated through our internal disciplinary machinery and if found culpable, shall be dismissed from service,” he said. “In addition, such personnel will be charged to court for murder or sundry offences depending on his or her level of criminal liability in the instance.”

Sigh. Honestly ehn, Naija is a ticking time bomb. The blatant disregard for human life is sickening. First thing sef is to check the kind of people that get into the Police Force [and other paramilitary organisations]. Craze people everywhere!

Enough is really enough in this Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared war against cultists and cult-related killings in parts of the state. Wike specifically vowed that the state government would frontally tackle the menace and would not allow cultists to continue to unleash mayhem in the state.

The governor, who spoke at the Government House, Port Harcourt, when the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers paid him a congratulatory visit on his re-election, maintained that his administration would take the fight to the cultists. “We will not allow these cultists who want to paint the state black continue to cause mayhem. We will take the fight to them. Enough is enough.”

Rivers State sha. All of una need to go bathe inside River Jordan.

Sorry but not sorry

The United States Embassy says it does not enjoy denying Nigerians visas to the US. The embassy’s Facebook post read in part, “Contrary to popular opinion, visa officers do not enjoy handing anyone the 214b refusal letter.

“Proof: Visa Officers will be live on Facebook to talk about some of the commonly misunderstood questions on the DS 160 and help you improve your next application.” However, over 200 Nigerians disagreed in the comment section of the embassy’s Facebook page.

LOL. Make them dey do shakara. This one that Canada is courting us steadily, their eyes go soon clear.

A hopeful Solskjaer looks forward to Camp Nou

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United have the attacking players to frighten Barcelona at Camp Nou. United are looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, and the manager insists the Spanish giants will be wary of facing Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba with a place in the Champions League semi-finals on the line tonight.

“You look at the quality of those players and that gives us a threat,” said Solskjaer, who scored a Champions League winner at Camp Nou in 1999. “We carry a goal threat and of course what we did against PSG as a team must give everyone a huge confidence boost.”

LOL. This man is talking like say he don nack Messi spiritual groin injury. Goal threat ko, Game of Thrones ni.
