The poison that became Ponmo

The Lagos State Government has warned residents of the state against buying ponmo (cow skin), being sold in some markets in the state. A statement by the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Adeola Salako, said three persons involved in the sale of the “poisonous ponmo” in the Ojo and Iba local government areas of the state had been arrested.

“The Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, who disclosed this in his office today (Sunday) while reviewing report of preliminary investigation and enforcement carried out on the sale of the toxic ponmo in the areas, stated that the three persons involved had been charged to court, while samples of the confiscated ponmo had been sent to the NAFDAC laboratory for suitability test analysis for human consumption,” the statement read in part.

“Furthermore, a company said to be located at the Ijedodo area of Iba LCDA was indicted as the source of supply of this toxic ponmo and has subsequently been put under surveillance.”

Haba! This is a severe infringement on the rights of Lagosians. Why would anyone choose to contaminate our ponmo, ponmo that is a reliable super sub in the absence of other soup/stew obstacles? This world is indeed an evil one.

The love Buhari has for the Igbo

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has said President Muhammadu Buhari loves the people of the South-East more than all his predecessors in office. He was reacting to a statement credited to the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, that Buhari was promoting ethnic division in the country.

Isiguzoro said, “President Buhari loves the Igbos more than any other President Nigeria ever had. In 2003, he picked the late Chuba Okadigbo as his running mate. In 2011, he picked Edwin Ume-Ezeoke under the ANPP as his running mate. He has shown so much love for the Igbos. Buhari believes in one Nigeria, against what people like Nwodo are saying.”

So him choosing Igbo running mates in the past is enough conviction that he loves Igbos ba? SMH. Na dis kain thing dey vex Mazi Kanu.

Atiku and [the battle about] his place of birth

Contrary to his claim of Sokoto as origin, a group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens of Sokoto State, has disowned the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Nigeria’s former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, saying that he should look for his origin elsewhere and not Sokoto State.

According to the coordinator of the group, retired Squadron Leader Aminu Bala, “Atiku who is now over 72 years old has never associated himself with Wurno, headquarters of Wurno Local Government of Sokoto State, where he claims his grandfather hailed from.

“His false and atrocious claim is just coming now that he is being bogged down by a protracted electoral litigation sequel to the 2019 Presidential elections. He is now claiming to hail from Sokoto and Jigawa States. He has forgotten that, in 2003 he had maliciously described the people of Sokoto, Kano and the other North Western States as ungrateful power zealots.”

LOL. Una still dey argue this matter? Concerned citizens ko, concerned in-laws ni.

PDP steadily shaking APC tables

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that N14tn had been stolen under the All Progressives Congress-led Presidency. It said the party and President Muhammadu Buhari were desperate to remain in power in order to prevent investigations into the matter. The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, made the allegations in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja.

Ologbondiyan said, “The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Presidency and the APC are desperate to remain in power at all costs, so as to continue to exploit Nigerians, protect the APC corrupt leaders, cover their incompetence and conceal the humongous sleazes in their administration.

“This is the reason the APC and the cabal at the incompetent Buhari Presidency resorted to violence, intimidation as well as manipulations and alteration of results at the Independent National Electoral Commission to rig the February 23 presidential election.

Chai. These allegations gather muscles like Brock Lesnar. If I were the APC administration, I wouldn’t bother responding sef. The god of Immunity dey my side.

An angry, non-winning Zidane

Zinedine Zidane apologised and said he wished Real Madrid’s miserable season would end now after they were beaten by 19th-placed Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Madrid’s response to Barcelona winning the title on Saturday night was to slip to a 1-0 defeat at Vallecas and fall 18 points behind La Liga’s newly-crowned champions.

Zidane took over knowing Madrid’s title challenge was all-but extinguished but the difference on Barca then was 12 points while catching Atletico Madrid, now nine ahead seemed achievable.

“Sometimes you cannot score but today we did not even create chances, did not play at all,” said Zidane. “We must be very angry. I am angry because the image we gave off today was bad. I am responsible for this as well, not just the players. But we have to apologise for our performance today, all of us.”

Mtcheew. Apologise to Chelsea fans too for the theft you will commit in the transfer market next season.
