President Buhari wants no scrub
President Muhammadu Buhari has dismissed the reports that his London trip was to compile the list of persons to be appointed as ministers during his second tenure. The president stated this on Sunday in Abuja after a 10-day private visit to London.
Buhari stated that he did not discuss the issue of the appointment of new cabinet ministers with anybody. The president said: “I didn’t discuss with anybody. So, I don’t know how they knew about it. I didn’t discuss it with anybody.”
On the possibility of introducing fresh approach in the fight against insurgency and banditry, the president acknowledged that the acting Inspector-General of Police was doing his best to curtail the menace. “I have just seen the IG, I think he is losing weight; I think he is working very hard,” he said.
LOL. Why una dey disturb Baba sef? It’s because of such nosy questions Baba ran to London in the first place. A nice proof he’s ‘not too young to run’.
Cardinal Onaiyekan has angry words for Nigerian politicians
The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, has warned that Nigeria’s leaders are making the country “uninhabitable”, causing young people to migrate illegally to Europe. Cardinal Onaiyekan was speaking to the media ahead of a church gathering to address migration, taking place in Abuja on Tuesday.
The 75-year-old cleric said he felt ashamed when he saw trafficked Nigerian women soliciting on the streets of Rome and other Italian cities. He criticised officials for focusing only on their own lives – building mansions and travelling the world.
Cardinal Onaiyekan said that if he were the president he would resign.
Your Eminence, thank you joor. You hit the hammer on the spinal cord. One of the few things giving us young people joy in this country is Big Brother Naija. That show is a blessing, financially and visually. Ahem.
Godfatherism 101: El-Rufai lectures
The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on Saturday said he defeated and retired four political godfathers in Kaduna State, saying the feat could be replicated anywhere, including Lagos State.
El-Rufai, who argued that godfathers existed only on paper or in the minds of the people, said the key to defeating them was in going directly to the people. He, however, admitted that defeating godfathers required time and hard work. “If I want to run for governor of Lagos, I will start now. I will commission a study to know why those five million registered voters did not vote; where do they go on election day? Then I will start visiting them for the next four years. I will try and get just two million of them to come and vote for me; I will defeat any godfather. The key is to go to the people,” he said.
LOL. So that is his great plan? Hahahaha. Oga doesn’t know Lagos is a different breed. Seriously, it’s not the thuggery that stops us from voting, it’s just that election day is one of the few times we can avoid traffic and sleep peacefully.
‘It’s a boy!’
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, has given birth to a boy, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, has announced. Prince Harry said they were ‘absolutely thrilled’ and thanked the public for their support during the pregnancy.
He said Meghan and the baby were doing “incredibly well”, adding that they were still thinking about names for the infant. The baby is said to weigh 7lbs 3oz (3.2kg).
Awww. Congratulobia to the royal family. At least English media go let Meghan rest, hopefully.
Sorry for Salah
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will not feature against Barcelona tomorrow night – and Roberto Firmino is out too. The Egyptian winger suffered a head injury against Newcastle United, Klopp confirming he painfully collided with goalkeeper Martin Dubravka’s hip.
“He is unavailable. It’s a precaution, it’s concussion,” Klopp said. “That means he is not allowed to play, so that is it. He is OK but not good enough for a medical point of view.
“He is desperate but we cannot do it. That is it.”
Chai, some voodoo strong o. So this is how Ramos’ jazz will keep following Salah like a shadow? Anyway sha, Barca has won already: the second leg match is mere formality.
