From technocrat to politician: Lagos State has a wiser Ambode

Outgoing Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said he has grown wiser politically, having spent four years in office. Ambode was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to pay what he called, ‘Thank you visit’ to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Buhari had visited Lagos last month to inaugurate some projects initiated by the Ambode administration. Ambode lost his re-election bid after he failed to win the primaries of his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), last year.

“The fact remains that I came in as a technocrat, so I used to call myself a techno-politician. But I think I am wiser now,” Ambode said.  “I am more of a politician than a technocrat.”

LOL. Oga Ambode, this is medicine after death. Season don end. Na Sanwo-Olu turn to coach…or is it chop? Ahem.

Internet fraud and the interesting case of Naira Marley

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that it will arraign musician, Afeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, anytime from now. The singer was arrested last Friday by the EFCC in connection with alleged Internet fraud and money laundering.

The EFCC’s acting Head, Media and Publicity, Tony Orilade, in an interview confirmed that the commission had received the order to detain Naira Marley.

Asked how long the musician would be detained, Orilade simply said, “He will be charged to court. As soon as we have a clear date, I will let you know.”

Hmmm. I have noticed that none of the Shaku-Shaku gang are commenting on Marley’s arrest. Everybody don gbe body.

We’ve done well, Presidency praises self even if no one will

The Presidency, in a press release by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, gave a breakdown of measures taken by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to combat crime since January, particularly banditry and kidnappings in the North-West.

It listed the inauguration of Operation Puff Adder (Police), Operation Harbin Kunama 3 (Army) and Exercise Egwu Eke 3 (Army) among the latest strategies.

“Hundreds of kidnappers and bandits have been arrested or killed since January, several camps/hideouts destroyed; and hundreds of hostages rescued,” the statement said. “In a two-week operation in February (lasting from February 4 to February 14), 80 hostages were freed by the army, with 37 bandits killed.”

Mtcheew. This APC-led government must really believe that old things are passed away and all things are become new. Where Leah Sharibu and the other girls? This amnesia-inducing tactic no work. Shior!

To be a millionaire, dream big

A man in Australia has scooped a $1m (£536,000) lottery prize after dreaming the winning numbers 13 years ago. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he had dreamt the numbers one night and had been playing them ever since.

He said: “I checked my ticket online and discovered the news. I thought one day I would see them all there. I haven’t given up on them!” The winner said the numbers had won him other prizes in previous years.

He added: “They’re certainly my lucky numbers so I’ll keep playing them.”

Chai. This is the kind of dream I’d be dreaming too if mathematics and I weren’t quarrelling.

Anthony Joshua wants none of the Drake curse

Anthony Joshua is considering banning Drake from his dressing room on his next fight night for fear the rapper’s sporting ‘curse’ might strike. Drake has developed a knack for jinxing sports stars, with the legend saying if you take a picture with the American you will lose your next game.

Jadon Sancho, Sergio Aguero, Neymar and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang have all been hit with the ‘curse’ and Joshua recently took a picture with Drake. Joshua takes on Andy Ruiz Jr in his American debut next month and the undefeated three-belt world champion admitted he was beginning to think the Drake ‘curse’ might be real.

“I know I shouldn’t,” Joshua said on ESPN when asked if Drake would be welcome in the dressing room on fight night. “You know about the Drake curse? It’s real though.”

Oga, do whatever it takes to avoid defeat biko. The hopes of many betting slips rests on your shoulders.
