Bad market for whistle-blower

The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation is currently enmeshed in a scandal after refusing to pay a whistle-blower (name withheld) his N1.8bn commission for exposing an account with $223m (N80.2bn).

Several documents showed that the whistle-blower approached the AGF, Abubakar Malami (SAN), in June 2018 and informed him of an account named, ‘NNPC Brass LNG INV. Fund’ with number 1750027157 domiciled in Skye Bank (now Polaris Bank).  After playing his part, the whistle-blower signed a bond along with the AGF—which was witnessed by Ladidi Mohammed, the Head, Asset Recovery and Management Unit at the AGF’s office—that stated the commission shall become due and payable to the whistle-blower ‘within 30 days’ of the receipt of the recovered/looted funds by the Federal Government and payment shall be made to the designated/nominated account provided in writing by the whistle-blower.

It was, however, learnt that 11 months after the agreement was signed, the Federal Government had failed to give the whistle-blower any money. He threatened to sue the Federal Government if he was not paid his commission within seven days.

LOL. Haba, how will somebody blow correct whistle and give your team penalty kick, and you’ll go on to score and now refuse to pay for services rendered? Pure wickedness!

Okorocha accused of ghosting

Governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, has said that the Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha has not released a dime for his swearing-in on May 29.

Ihedioha, who spoke in a statement issued by the secretary of his inauguration and handover committee, Ray Emeana, who doubles as the secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, said that the governor had refused to finance the inauguration activities. According to the governor-elect, there was no truth that Okorocha had released N150m to his inauguration and handover committee for the May 29 programme.

“For the avoidance of doubts, Governor Rochas Okorocha and his outgoing government have not released any money to the Inauguration Planning and Handover Committee…Rather, the joint committee made up of the 31–member Ihediohia team and the 21–member Rochas Okorocha team met and adopted common resolutions on how best to proceed with the inauguration activities. Rochas Okorocha has since abandoned the mutual resolutions and proceeded with his “Internet-based Commissioning of Internet Sited Projects,” the statement read. “Conscious of the importance Imo people attach to the May 29, 2019 handover date, the Ihedioha/Irona inauguration committee has proceeded with arrangements to deliver a world-class inauguration to Imo people come May 29, 2019.

LOL. The only inauguration Owelle Rochas is interested in is the one that will usher him into the National Assembly. Any other inauguration na counterfeit.

New Republic, new wahala

A militant group, Network of Niger Delta Republic Fighters, has threatened to declare a Niger Delta Republic on June 1, 2019. In a statement, the group said they were not happy with the situation in Nigeria.

The statement by the Director of Information of the group Maxwell Dan alleged selective maltreatment of the people of the region by the Muhammadu Buhari administration. It listed police invasion of the residence of a Niger Delta leader, Chief Edwin Clark, last year and current ordeal of the ex-Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Walter Onnoghen as part of the selective maltreatment of Niger Delta people.

“It is a common fact that Nigeria has completely derailed from the path of peace, justice and progress as proclaimed by its founding fathers,” the group said. “It is also unfortunate that after four years of this administration, there is no single viable project executed by the Federal Government in Niger Delta despite the billions of naira accrued to the government from the resources of the Niger Delta as a result of the ceasefire in the region.”

LOL. One week, one drama. This country don tire me. Where’s that my Canadian passport sef?

NFF don lower AFCON morale

The 1st Vice-President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Seyi Akinwunmi, has said that the body did not expect the Super Eagles to win the African Cup of Nations at all cost. Akinwunmi said the Glass House football administration would not put pressure on the Gernot Rohr-tutored team but expects that the team should be at its best.

“What we have done so far as NFF is that we have put up a programme where the footballers only have to think about football with no extraneous matters.

“So, we expect them to be at their best and do their best. They should strive to win the cup and if they don’t win, that does not mean that they have failed. They can only be termed as a failure if they failed to put in their best and we can judge that with their performance”.

Mtcheew. So after the plenty dollars Super Eagles dey collect, make we no expect anything ba? But if na Super Falcons or Under-17 or Under-23 teams una go dey shout Go and get the cup! Yeye double standards.

A Christian Yahoo-Boy

A deeply religious retired teacher, Ann Moore-Martin, 83, believed messages written on mirrors in her home were from God, telling her to change her will and leave her home to her young lover, Benjamin Field, 28.

Benjamin Field used a white marker pen to leave biblical messages for Ann Moore-Martin, urging her to give him £27,000 towards the cost of a dialysis machine, purportedly for his seriously ill brother Tom, 24.

The first message, illustrated with a cross, said: “All that you give him, He will return, Ten fold”. A second message said: “Your intentions are holy, Your work is not yet done, Take care and complete the task, Given to you by the Lord”. A third said: “Your soul will proceed directly to heaven, Her soul to joy; his to perfection, This good you will do can never be undone. Peace is yours in me, your Lord. Amen”. A final message said: “Pray for Ben, Ben loves you”. The court heard that Miss Moore-Martin began to believe the messages were from God and Field also spoke of receiving them.

LOL. No difference between this guy and some Nigerian pastors and clerics. But EFCC will be forming blind Bartimaeus.
