Unchained Vibes Africa (UVA) will unveil the Freedom Vibes Series to members of the artistic community and civil society organisations in Nigeria, Africa and around the world at Freedom Park, Lagos Island from 4 – 8 pm Saturday.
Freedom Vibes Series, according to a statement, is a hybrid (physical and virtual) monthly show featuring live performances, artistic showcases and conversations, highlighting artists’ freedom of expression.
“From Saturday 30 October 2021, participants will review recent reports of restrictions targeting artistic freedom, discuss policy reforms, and design advocacy campaigns,” said the statement.
According to Ayodele Ganiu, Founder/Executive Producer Unchained Vibes Africa “the event will feature veteran actor, educator and activist Hilda Dokubo; Nigerian-German musician and activist Ade Bantu; rapper and on-air personality Saifullah Ibrahim (Dr Pure) as speakers.”
Ganiu also hinted that “joining the event virtually are the Chairperson of African Defenders (the Pan-African Human Rights Defenders Network), ace Nollywood actor and president of Association of Voiceover Artists (AVOA) Segun Arinze; President of Actors Guild of Nigeria Emeka Rollas; Director of PEN America’s Artists at Risk Connection Julie Trebault and other distinguished speakers. The conversations will be moderated by the seasoned journalist and executive program director of Culture Advocates Caucus (CAC) Jahman Anikulapo, while adding that ” live performances and spotlights will be headlined by Nigerian hip-hop icon Eedris AbdulKareem and the world famous Nigerian female talking drum icon ARA.”
