Victoria Inyama: A veteran and survivor

The last time anyone heard big news from actress Victoria Inyama was on social media where she was reported to have alleged that her husband was practicing domestic violence on her in their base in the United Kingdom early this year.

The actress, one of Nollywood’s foremost, had written on Facebook that she had decided to call on the police to rescue her from her husband, who she continued now had a live-in-lover but would not grant her a divorce. And so her fans have been able to have a glimpse into her life over the years since she married in 2003 and disappeared from the industry that made her very famous. It was also on social media that she revealed her battle with cancer in 2006 and countless other moments including returning to the classroom, giving birth and commentary on happenings in Nollywood.

She came into limelight for her role in the 1990s Zeb Ejiro produced popular TV series, Ripples. The mother of three, who hails from Enugu State, Nigeria went on to star in Nollywood films like Silent Night, Danger Zone, Odum, Love from Above, Eze Nwanyi, Glamour Boys and Iyanga.

She attempted a comeback last year when she featured in the movie Talking Dolls, which addresses societal issues, sex abuse and their shortcomings. The movie was shot in the heart of London, Kent and Essex and was released in the UK, Ghanaian and Nigerian cinemas in the second quarter of 2017.
