Viral video: NYSC reacts to corpers’ erotic dance at orientation camp (Punch)
The National Youth Service Corps has faulted corpers seen dancing in a viral video at a yet-to-be identified orientation camp.
In the video, one female corper was seen giving a lap dance to a male counterpart.
The video, which attracted condemnations from Nigerians, also showed the corpers engaging in an erotic dance.
A male corper was also seen hitting his organ against the female’s own, with a corper heard saying, “give am well”. Read more
Lagos to implement Public Complaints, Anti-Corruption Commission Law (Nation)
The war against corruption is set to get a big push in Lagos State, with the appointment of a chairman for the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who signed the law setting up the commission in April 2021, has appointed Justice Mojisola A. Olatoregun (rtd) as chairman.
The appointment is pursuant to the power vested in the Governor under Section 3(3) of the Lagos State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law, 2021.
Hon. Justice Olatoregun retired as an administrative judge of the Federal High Court, Lagos Division, after a tour of service in other divisions of the Federal High Court across the federation. Read more
Methodist Boys High School alumni tasks church on land dispute (ThisDay)
Following the controversy on the sale of a parcel of land belonging to Methodist Boys High School, Lagos, for commercial purpose by the Methodist Church, the alumni President of the school, Mr. Kolapo Sogbetun, yesterday appealed to the church to partner it in putting up projects that would benefit the students and enable the school regain its lost glory.
According to a report, sometimes in 2012, the church, under the leadership of the Prelate, His Eminence Dr. Sunday Ola Makinde, then attempted to plunder part of the property (measuring about two acres) of the school for commercial purposes, which is non-educational.
He had maintained that the church had obtained a new Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and survey plan in the name of the church on the same land from educational to commercial purpose without any proof of assertion.
In July 2021, an old boy of the school had noticed that the church had affixed to the external fence of the school a sign board advertising the stretch of the land and calling on developers for a joint venture to effect luxury flat under a project called ‘The Wesley’, for sale to interested buyers/subscribers for commercial purpose. Ex-governor, Tinubu returns to LASU (Independent)
As the Lagos State University (LASU) turns out 112 First Class graduates, the former governor of the State, and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Bola Tinubu will on Thursday deliver the 25th convocation lecture of the 35-year-old institution.
Asiwaju Tinubu will deliver a paper titled: “Global Trends: Nigeria’s Rightful Place in the World”.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello disclosed this while briefing journalists on activities lined up for the institution’s 25th convocation ceremonies.
According to the VC, other activities lined up for the convocation are the conferment of Emeritus status on Distinguished Professor Peter Okebukola. Read more
INEC decentralises CVR in Lagos State to 245 wards (Sun)
In Lagos State, INEC on Wednesday decentralised the on-going Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to the state’s 245 wards.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Olusegun Agbaje, directed Electoral Officers (EOs) in each of the 20 Local Government Areas of the state to move to Registration Areas (wards).
Mrs Adenike Oriowo, INEC’s Public Affairs Officer in Lagos State told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the move was to facilitate the registration of more eligible voters.

The refusal to join the strike by the KWASU chapter had generated ripples within the academic circles.
However, the branch expressed support for the ongoing warning strike declared by its national body.

Nigerian student describes harrowing escape from Ukraine (Vanguard)
As the war in Ukraine rages on, two Nigerian students who have since returned home after fleeing Russia’s invasion of the country have described their traumatic escape.
Adetomiwa Adeniyi, 24, and Amamchim Steve-Ajufo, 17, were both studying medicine in Ukraine before Russian troops invaded. The Nigerian government has been evacuating its citizens escaping the war in Ukraine, and more than 1,500 of them have been flown back home, according to the authorities.
Adeniyi and Steve-Ajufo were among Nigerian students recently evacuated by the government.
The pair crossed into neighboring Romania through the Ukrainian border. The experience, they said, was harrowing and unfamiliar. Read more

Popular award-winning singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has received knocks from Twitter fans after he lamented the cost of clearing his Lamborghini at the Nigerian port.
The Afro-pop singer had called for prayers for the country as he decried the amount he had to pay for the clearance.
“You don’t even wanna know how much I just paid to clear my Lambo. Pray for Nigeria…Jesus,” he tweeted early Wednesday.

Court revokes Nnamdi Kanu’s request for DSS DG oral evidence on health status (Nation)
A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday, dismissed a motion filed by leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, for the Director-General of the Department of States Services (DSS) to give oral evidence on his state of health.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo, in ruling, held that fundamental rights cases are special cases “sui generis” which mode of commencement are affidavit evidence as prescribed under Order 2, Rule 2 of the Fundamental Human Right Enforcement Procedure Rules, 2009.
Justice Taiwo said that though there were various modes of commencement of action, including fundamental right cases, he said Kanu (applicant) chose to commence his “under the Fundamental Right Enforcement Procedure Rules that stipulates affidavit evidence.”
He ruled that after carefully perusing all the affidavits of the applicant and the respondents before him, he was of the view that there were no irreconcilable conflicts in the affidavits. Read more
Russian troops shoot dead 10 people waiting in line for bread, US embassy says (Metro)
The US embassy in Kyiv has claimed Russian forces shot dead 10 people waiting for bread in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv.
It did not cite what evidence it had of the attack in a statement posted on its official Twitter site and on its Facebook page.
However a video has started circulating appearing to show victims of the massacre lying dead on the pavement.
In a statement the embassy said: ‘Today, Russian forces shot and killed 10 people standing in line for bread in Chernihiv.
‘Such horrific attacks must stop. We are considering all available options to ensure accountability for any atrocity crimes in Ukraine.’ Read more
‘Concert for Ukraine’ benefit show to air on ITV this month (NME)
ITV will host a two-hour benefit show this month to raise money for those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Concert For Ukraine is due to air on Tuesday, March 29 in aid of the Disasters Emergency Committee‘s (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Additionally, all sponsorship and advertising revenue generated from the broadcast of the event – which is expected to raise over £3million – will be donated by ITV to the DEC fund.
Per a press release, the concert will “bring together names from the world of music for a unique event spreading a message of hope and support” with those caught up in the conflict. Read more

‘Maisel,’ ‘The Opposition’ writer sets 6-Week off-Broadway run of abortion comedy (THR)
The critically acclaimed comedy Oh God, A Show About Abortion from writer-comedian Alison Leiby (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Opposition With Jordan Klepper, The President Show) is set for a six-week run at New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre, The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively reveal.
Leiby’s one-woman stage show — which she has performed around New York, earning rave reviews from The New York Times — will be presented by Ilana Glazer and produced in part by Bad Robot Live, the theatrical arm of JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot.
Oh God will be directed by Obie and Drama Desk winner Lila Neugebauer, whose credits include Kenneth Lonergan’s The Waverly Gallery on Broadway; productions by Tracy Letts and Zoe Kazan off-Broadway; and Room 104, The Sex Lives of College Girls and Maid on TV. Neugebauer’s first feature, starring Jennifer Lawrence, is set to be released this year.

Nicolas Cage has a message for Warner Bros. executives: “I’m down for Egghead.” The Oscar winner is talking about playing the villain Egghead in a potential sequel to Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” which is quickly approaching the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office. Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce “The Batman” sequel, but Reeves and cast members like Robert Pattinson have all expressed a desire to make a follow-up movie. Cage told reporters at SXSW he’s interested in joining.
“We have this new [movie with] Robert Pattinson as ‘The Batman,’ which I’m excited to see. I haven’t seen it yet but I think he would be terrific.” Cage said (via IGN). “The villain that Vincent Price played on the 1960s show, Egghead, I think I want to have a go at Egghead. I think I can make him absolutely terrifying. And I have a concept for Egghead. So let them know over at Warner Bros that I’m down for Egghead.”
In the comic books, the bald-headed Egghead is a master criminal and one of the smartest people in the world. Considering how Reeves reimagined the Riddler with Paul Dano for “The Batman,” Cage’s call for a “terrifying” new spin on Egghead might be appealing for the director. “The Batman” franchise is currently set to expand with two spinoff HBO Max series, one set in Arkham Asylum and one centered on Penguin, played by Colin Farrell.
As for the potential “The Batman” sequel, Reeves told press at the film’s U.K. premiere, “You don’t make number one as if there’s going to be a number two. You have to make number one as if you’re swinging for the fences and it has to be a story that stands and lives on its own. Chicago Cubs owners The Ricketts Family have confirmed their bid to buy Chelsea.
Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts and his family will spearhead a consortium bid for the Stamford Bridge club, with major partnership funding understood to be in place.
New York merchant bank Raine Group has set a Friday deadline for bids, with Roman Abramovich’s 19-year tenure as Chelsea owner coming to a close.
“The Ricketts Family, owners of the Chicago Cubs, can confirm they will be leading an investment group that will make a formal bid for Chelsea Football Club this Friday,” said a spokesman for the Ricketts family. Read more

A senior FIA figure has admitted the radical new designs in F1 cars ‘exceeded’ what he expected during the three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain. With brand new technical regulations being introduced into the sport this season, designed to make racing more competitive, an intriguing campaign lies ahead as drivers get to grip with their adapted cars.
Prior to heading to the Middle East, teams had undergone a first round of testing in Barcelona in February, and ahead of the opening Grand Prix this weekend one of the major talking points has been the contrasting approach to sidepod designs. In particular, Mercedes are sporting a radical slimline solution on Lewis Hamilton’s car, a design which initially prompted complaints from Red Bull boss Christian Horner.
He branded the design “illegal” and argued the Silver Arrows had gone “a step too far,” but has since backed down from the claims. However, the design has continued to turn heads, and Nikolas Tombazis, the FIA’s head of single-seater matters, admitted that, while leeway was left for teams, certain approaches surprised him.
“If you asked me whether I expected to see the variety of the solutions that teams produced in the sidepods, then no, that exceeded what I was imagining, I must say,” he told motorsport.com. However, Tombazis added that it was the area where regulations weren’t so stringent. Read more
9 dead, including 6 students and a coach, in crash involving University of Southwest golf teams (USAToday)
The Texas Department of Public Safety says nine people were killed in a head-on collision in West Texas, including six students and a coach from a New Mexico university’s golf teams.
Sgt. Steven Blanco says a pickup truck crossed the centerline of a highway Tuesday night and crashed into a vehicle carrying members of the University of the Southwest men’s and women’s golf teams. They had been returning from a tournament in Midland, Texas.
Blanco says six students were killed, along with a faculty member. The driver of the pickup and its passenger were also killed.
He says two students were taken by helicopter to a Lubbock hospital in critical condition. Read more
Djokovic free to play French Open ‘as things stand’, say organisers (France24)
Unvaccinated players, including Novak Djokovic, will be free to play at this year’s French Open “as it stands”, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) said on Wednesday.
Djokovic, who will reclaim his world number one ranking next week, was forced to miss the Australian Open when he was deported from the country following a legal battle over his lack of Covid vaccinations.
There was doubt over his participation at Roland Garros, but with France’s vaccine pass and other Covid rules dropped this week, tournament director Amelie Mauresmo says he is free to take part.
“As things stand, nothing stands in the way of Djokovic taking part in the French Open,” she told a press conference. “Our goal is to have the best possible entry list.” Read more
Chelsea face losing six academy starlets including Xavier Simons following sanctions (Metro)
Chelsea are facing the prospect of losing a host of academy starlets – including highly rated Xavier Simons – on free transfers due to the sanctions imposed by the government.
The west London club are currently unable to offer contracts to players due to the terms of their special operating license, with Chelsea effectively in limbo after owner Roman Abramovich’s assets were frozen.
In the first team, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are now all expected to leave at the end of the season with Chelsea prevented from offering them new deals.
The problem extends to the academy, too, with The Sun reporting that six academy youngsters could depart this summer as a result of the restrictions imposed on the club.
Chief among them is 19-year-old midfielder Simons, who is very highly rated by Chelsea and captained the Under-23 team in the UEFA Youth League. Read more
