A new update means that messages backed up on whatsapp are no longer encrypted meaning that anybody can read your backed up messages in Google drive
Android users are most affected as they have Google store installed and their messages signed up with a google address.
Whatsapp’s Help page is not shy about announcing this: “Important: Media and Messages you back up are not protected by Whatsapp’s end-to-end encryption while in Google Drive.
