WATISE 2.0: Shaping the future of telecoms infrastructure industry

The second edition of the West Africa Telecoms Summit and Exhibition (WATISE 2.0) is set to take place following the success of its inaugural event. Organised by TechnologyMirror, a prominent ICT and Telecoms news platform, according to a statement by African Media Agency on behalf of WATISE, the summit promises to be a pivotal gathering for regional telecom players and stakeholders.

Scheduled for April 18th at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel in Southwest Nigeria, WATISE 2.0 will delve into the theme of “Shaping the Future of the Telecoms Infrastructure Industry: Trends and Insights for a Digital Economy”. The focus will centre on critical aspects such as the digital economy, funding challenges, rural telephony, and the imperative of green energy adoption to mitigate power generation crises.

Key figures in the industry are slated to grace the event, including Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), who will deliver the keynote address. Additionally, Engr Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ALTON), will present a significant paper.

Endorsed by ALTON and partnered with ICTLOCA, a local content advocacy group, WATISE 2.0 will feature enlightening panel discussions on various pertinent topics. These discussions will revolve around enhancing rural connectivity, addressing big data challenges, tackling funding obstacles in the telecoms sector, and exploring trends, insights, and solutions in business automation and green infrastructure.

Isaiah Erhiawarien, the Convener, said that WATISE 2.0 aims to foster dialogue, learning and collaboration among stakeholders. The summit serves as a platform for telecommunications operators, regulators, policymakers, and industry players to dissect infrastructure trends, challenges, and solutions crucial for shaping the sector’s future.

With participants already registered from across the region and beyond, including Tunisia, Egypt and the Republic of Benin, the event seeks to spotlight investment opportunities in the tech sector. By attracting more investors, WATISE 2.0 endeavors to catalyze growth and innovation in West Africa’s telecom landscape.
