Who wants a sniff of what Wizkid might be cooking? – Uzoma Ihejirika

On January 3, 2019, Nigerian music superstar Wizkid made an announcement on his Twitter page: “Gone till March! Thank u 💔❤️”.

The announcement came a week and some days after his hugely successful “Made In Lagos” concert at Eko Atlantic City. What marveled many about the success of Wizkid’s concert was that it happened on the same night rapper Olamide’s “Olamide Live in Concert” took place.

Two giants, one night: whose concert would be a success at the expense of the other? Well, none, because like the popular adage goes, the sky is wide enough for all kinds of birds to fly.

2018 saw Wizkid and his signees (Ceeza Milli, Spotless & Terri) deliver ‘Soco’, a monster hit that dominated airwaves and went on to win “Best Collaboration” at this year’s Soundcity MVP Awards Festival. The past year also saw Wizkid influence the ubiquity of Everything stew, a slang that originated from his Tiwa Savage-inspired video for ‘Fever’. Say what you might about the appropriateness of their relationship or lack of it, it’s undeniable that the pair got us to do exactly what they wanted: TALK!
