Serena Williams goes into her much-anticipated mixed doubles pairing with Andy Murray eager to find out what it is like to be considered on the side of the good guys by the British crowd.
The 23-time grand slam champion has felt the strength of home support when she played against Heather Watson in 2015 and is keen to have it behind her when they take on Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi at some point after 5.30pm today.
“Actually I’m curious, too, to see what the crowd is like,” Williams said. “I’m going to be so happy when I go out there, it’s going to be really cool. That’s the real reason I wanted to play with Andy.
“He is a great player, mentally one of the toughest players out there. I don’t even know what goes on in his mind but I know what goes on in my mind”.
