Woman hit in the face by golf ball during Ryder Cup

A woman was left injured after a golf ball struck her in the face during the opening day of the Ryder Cup.

Pictures showed the bloodied fan lying down on the grass at The Golf National, in Guyancourt, France where the tournament between the United States and Europe was taking place.

The stray ball was hit by US team member Brooks Koepka, who was playing a shot on the sixth hole this morning.

The unidentified spectator was bandaged up while she lie on the floor and was then taken to hospital.

The extent of her injuries have not been revealed but it is believed she hurt her eye in the incident.

Sky Sports commentators added Koepka was shaken up after going to check on her. Read more
