Seeing top music acts from different genres collaborate is quite rare and almost non-existent in the Nigerian music industry. Yes, there has been the rare occasion of songs featuring Fuji and Hip hop stars, but such occurrences are typically few and far between.
However, when the stars align and artists from different genre come together to make music or perform together, we get some amazing tracks. Songs like Baby Jowo by Highlife legend Victor Uwaifo and Afro-Pop Icon Tuface, spring to mind when you think of classic collaborations from artistes from different genre and maybe, generations.
Most recently, we also got to see Adekunle Gold perform on stage alongside Sir Shina Peters at the Ariya Repete talent hunt courtesy of Goldberg and now another Nigerian breweries brand “33” Export will be celebrating its “City of friends” parties by bringing together two hugely talented artistes from different genres of Nigerian music – Simi and Pasuma.
The “33” Export “City of Friends” parties will see acts like Phyno, Simi, and Kizz Daniel grace the stage alongside Veteran Fuji artist Alabi Pasuma.
Wasiu Alabi Pasuma might be a Fuji act, but his ability to cross over into hiphop and pop is one of the characteristics that have endeared him to the populace. With a career spanning over two decades, fans are in for a swell time at this event. X3M Music act Simi is loved for her soulful tunes such as Tiff, Jam Question, Joromi and many others.
The event will hold in Lagos on the 3rd and 4th of August at the Eagles’ Club, Surulere. The event will also see Veteran comedian Gordons thrill the audience with his signature witty jokes, while Nigeria’s top DJs will be on the wheels of steel.
