Yahaya Bello: Case stalled as judge walks out of proceedings

On Wednesday, the N82 billion fraud case involving former Kogi State, Yahaya Bello was stalled after Justice Emeka Nwite walked out of the court over a verbal row between two senior advocates.

Per a Daily Post report, two lawyers Abdulwahab Mohammed, standing for Bello, SAN, and Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, engaged in a war of words on Wednesday after the former announced his presence for Bello, leaving out his colleague, Adeola Adedipe, SAN.

The exclusion was opposed by the federal government on the grounds that Adedipe should be included in the proceedings until discharged by the court.

The argument was interrupted by Adedipe who insisted that he was not ready to be part of the proceedings.

Interjecting, Mohammed disclosed that Adedipe had filed a notice of withdrawal from the proceedings.

Just when Justice Nwite was set to deliver his ruling on the controversy, Bello’s lawyer requested to be allowed to stay outside if the court went ahead with the proceeding.

As things degenerated further, Nwite angrily ended the proceeding by walking into his chamber. (Sun)
