THE Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide has warned Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai to desist from acts that could earn him disgrace from the Yoruba nation
Addressing reporters in Lagos, the council’s president, Aremo Oladotun Hassan, said the statement credited to el-Rufai saying he would teach Lagosians how to end Godfatherism was “abysmally insulting”.
Hassan queried why the governor would leave his Kaduna State, which is under intense insecurity and fears.
He said el-Rufai lacked the credibility to utter such seditious statement in a Yoruba land. Read more
Cultists kill one; injure two in Lagos (Nation)
Residents of Ogodo Valley in Mende, Maryland area of Lagos State, were thrown into panic on Sunday night as gunmen suspected to be cultists killed one and injured two children on the streets.
Eyewitnesses told The Nation that the victim, simply identified as Dare Atlanta, who sells Indian hemp, was hanging out with his friends in the Valley when he received a phone call from his soon-to-be killers posing as customers around 9pm.
The victim then climbed up to Atiba Osbourne Street to meet them where he was immediately shot in the head. Read more
I’ll tell Niger to use Kaduna port, not Lagos – El-Rufai (Punch)
The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, plans to send a delegation to the Republic of Niger to tell it to start receiving goods at the Kaduna Inland Dry Port instead of using the seaports in Lagos State.
El-Rufai disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking on the sidelines of the ceremony for the commencement of cargo delivery by rail to the Kaduna Inland Dry Port. Read more

75,020 pupils to benefit as Osinbajo launches feeding programme in Ekiti (Nation)
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday launched the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme tagged “Ekiti-Kete School Meal” in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
With the launch, Ekiti became the 31st state to commence the Federal Government initiative.
According to Prof Osinbajo, 75,020 pupils in all the public primary schools across the state would be fed once daily; adding that the programme will not only increase school attendance and enrolment but checkmate malnutrition among pupils. Read more
House of Representatives reconsiders Electoral Amendment Bill (Guardian)
The House of Representatives has reconsidered and adopted a report on the Electoral Amendment Bill of 2018, which took into consideration all the observations made by President Muhammadu Buhari before declining assent prior to the 2019 general elections.

Policemen who raped Abuja women’ll be punished — IG (Punch)
The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Adamu Mohammed, has said men of the Nigeria Police Force involved in the mass raping of women suspected to be prostitutes in the Abuja metropolis will be punished.

Several killed in Syria’s rebel-held northwest (Independent)
At least 15 civilians have been killed in Syria’s northwest region as Russian-backed government forces continued air raids and shelling in the last rebel-held territory in the country, activists and volunteer medics have said.
Five civilians including three children were killed when an air raid hit three homes and a vegetable market in the village of Ras al-Ain in Idlib’s eastern region on Tuesday afternoon, Ahmed Sheikho, a Syrian Civil Defence spokesman told Al Jazeera. Read more

Lagos – Hon. Daniel Igali, President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) is confident wrestling can win no fewer than 10 gold medals for Team Nigeria at this year’s All-Africa Games in Rabat, Morocco.

Hurdler Amusan qualifies for Tokyo Olympics (Punch)
Amusan finished second behind Danielle Williams, the 2015 World Championships 100m hurdles gold medallist, who won gold at the first meeting of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League in Doha last Friday.
Williams won the women’s 100m hurdles event in 12.66 seconds. Amusan finished second in 12.73, (0.05 seconds) ahead of Sharika Nelvis of the US, who clocked a time of 12.78 seconds. Read more
