Zinedine Zidane has played down the possibility of Real Madrid signing Paul Pogba before the end of the transfer window despite the Manchester United midfielder’s brother saying he wants to leave.
Pogba is believed to have been one of Zidane’s primary targets this summer, though Real president Florentino Perez was less convinced, while United have little intention of selling – especially now the Premier League window is closed.
Real have already spent around £270m in the off-season but did not reinforce their ageing central midfield, and Zidane appears resigned to not getting Pogba before the deadline.
‘Paul is a Manchester United player and we must respect that,’ said Zidane at a press conference on Friday. ‘We are here thinking of tomorrow’s game.’ Read more
