There have been 100 new cases of Covid-19 reported in Nigeria in the past 24 hours.
In an announcement via its Twitter handle, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said there are now 55,005 confirmed cases in the most populous country in Africa, with 43,013 of the previously reported cases now recovered and discharged.
Nigeria’s death toll from the coronavirus has now risen to 1,057, after three more deaths were reported in the past day.
The NCDC made the announcement Sunday night .
Africa has more than 1.2 million cases and more than 30,000 deaths.
As of September 6, the confirmed coronavirus death toll on the continent stood at 31,056. There are 1,291,724 confirmed infections and 1,031,453 recoveries, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Worldwide, the number of those diagnosed with COVID-19 is almost 27 million. According to a count by Johns Hopkins University, Nearly 27 million people around the world have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and more than 881,000 have died, more than 18 million people have recovered.
