The Human & Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has express dissatisfaction over the widely reported arrest of some security guards and a passer-by widow with three children, at Brooks Estate in Magodo, Lagos by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, on Saturday, January 1st, 2022.

A statement delivered by the Chairman of HEDA, Suraj Olarenwaju, the civil society group revealed that it was reported and admitted by the force that the Commissioner of Police was on a “Private social visit” to a friend holding a function in the estate.

For HEDA, the Lagos State police boss was expected to act in a civil manner to befitting his class in the Society and show a sense of mental maturity by playing by the rules guiding entry and exit of the estate executed by the security guards. As we know, there are rules guiding every territory, since Mr. commissioner was not going for a war (where protocol in an environment may be thwarted), one expects him to follow the unbureaucratic due process at the main gate as it is obtained in every organized crime.

“We are not Ignorant of those sentiments which triggered the CP’s actions against those diligent security guards. The brouhaha -particularly the gridlock at Isheri, this incident has caused is disturbing and highly condemnable. Read more

Hawkeye composer calls reaction to the show’s post-credits scene “bittersweet” (DigitalSpy)

Disney+ series Hawkeye bucked the trend of its Marvel Cinematic Universe contemporaries, choosing not to look ahead in its ubiquitous post-credits’ scene.

Instead, once the credits of Hawkeye had finished rolling, the series flashed back to its very first episode with a rendition of the in-universe Rogers: The Musical number ‘Save the City’.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife’s Jason Reitman on how that major third-act cameo came together (CinemaBlend)

That major third-act cameo in Ghostbusters: Afterlife wasn’t just an example of reverent fan service. It also played a pivotal role in the defeat of Gozer and helped protagonist Phoebe Spengler get some closure with her grandfather. But just how did that legendary moment come to pass? Director Jason Reitman has given fans a peek behind the curtain.

In a recent interview with Empire, Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman revealed the logistics behind OG Ghostbuster Egon Spengler’s shocking cameo. The first step? Getting the blessing of the late Harold Ramis’ family. He said:

‘‘The first person that ever read the script was my father, and after my father it was the Ramis family. It was Harold’s widow, Erica, and daughter Violet, who I grew up knowing – we were both on the set of the original back in ’83. I talked to them about what we wanted to do, how we were going to do it. They came to set, and they viewed visual effects that came to the editing room. They’re the first people to ever actually see the movie. So they were part of this movie from start to finish and I think they were aware of how much I wanted to honour Harold. Egon was my favourite Ghostbuster. This is a Spengler story, and this movie is dedicated to him in every way.’’

Once Harold Ramis’ family had given the cameo their stamp of approval, Jason Reitman had to create a digital recreation of the actor that wouldn’t appear glitchy or artificial. His main priority was believability: in fact, the entire film depended on it. He explained: Read more

Ferrari deter drivers from ‘pushing limits’ in 2022 (PlanetF1)

Ferrari want their drivers to stay within “the limits” in 2022 to keep crash costs down and not blow the team’s development budget under the cost cap.

That was less of an issue last year when the SF21 was not the subject of continuous development, offering more licence to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to push the boundaries.

The Scuderia duo were not immune to the odd accident here and there, with Leclerc hitting the barrier at the end of qualifying for his home race in Monaco, ironically securing pole position in doing so but unable to start the grand prix due to the damage the car had sustained.

Sainz, meanwhile, also had a couple of Saturday shunts, including in Hungary, and according to figures published by Sky Germany, Ferrari were second only to Haas in the list of combined crash damage costs for 2021 at nearly six million euros. Read more
