2 feared dead as church building collapses on worshippers in Delta (Vanguard)
At least two worshippers were on Sunday feared dead while scores of others sustained various degrees of injuries when the building where they were worshipping collapsed during a church service at Adagbrassa in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State. Adagbrassa is the home town of former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Late Maj. Gen Patrick Aziza (retd). The worshippers had converged at the St. Paul Catholic Church for the Sunday morning mass when midway into the service, the building collapsed. Read more

SERAP sues INEC for failure to try Ekiti vote buyers (Punch)
Advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, has commenced a lawsuit to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to prosecute the politicians who engaged in vote-buying during the July 14 Ekiti State governorship election. In the suit filed on Friday before the Federal High Court in Lagos, SERAP is urging the court to order the Chairman of INEC, Prof Yakubu Mahmoud, to demand from law enforcement agencies the reports on the alleged vote-buying, so that culpable politician could be prosecuted. 2019: Wike declares to re-contest (Sun)
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has declared that he will seek re-election in 2019, citing the support of youths from the 23 local government areas, as the principal reason for his declaration. The governor also acknowledged the endorsements from women, elders, ethnic nationalities and non-indigenes from the 23 local government areas, as yet another reason to fight for protection of the state, post-2019. NCAA generates N15.27bn ticket sale charges in eight months (PremiumTimes)
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has generated N15.27billion as revenue from the Ticket Sales Charge (TSC) in the past eight months. The TSC was collected from both the International and local airlines operators operating in the country. The Director General, NCAA, Muktar Usman, who made the disclosure while briefing journalists in Lagos on Sunday, said that the amount was generated from January to August 2018. Read more

UK welcomes Saudi-led coalition probe into Yemen strike (Guardian)
Britain on Sunday welcomed results of an investigation by the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen into an air strike last month that killed 40 children, but urged clarifications on other deadly operations. The Saudi-led coalition on Saturday said “mistakes” had been made in the August 9 strike on a crowded marketplace in a part of northern Yemen held by Huthi rebels that the Red Cross said had killed 51 people. Microsoft decides to end the Surface Plus lease program (Digital Trend)
If you were interested in Microsoft’s Surface Plus program, we hope you are already enrolled because the company has decided to end the service roughly a year after it launched. The company announced the decision via an FAQ that, sadly, didn’t give us much information as to why it decided to end the program. The FAQ merely says that Microsoft decided to end the program after “much thought and consideration.” The service, which launched last year, allowed customers to lease a Surface device for 24 months. At the end of those 24 months, the device became theirs to keep. In addition, users had the option of upgrading to a new device after 18 months. Read more
