An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered the remand of two men, Ridwan Ayodele, 26 and Ahmed Agunbiade, 24, for alleged possession of lethal weapons, a gun and knife.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing charges of conspiracy, membership of unlawful society and illegal possession of gun.
The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi, did not take the pleas of the defendants, but ordered that they be detained at the Kirikiri custodial facility pending legal advice of the state director of public prosecutions.
Owolabi adjourned the case until May 9 for mention.
The Prosecutor, ASP Josephine Ikhaire, told the court that the defendants and some persons now at Large committed the offences on March 17, at Abijan Area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
She said that the defendants, who were on their to carryout their nefarious act, were intercepted by a police patrol team.
The prosecutor said that when the men were searched, a locally-made gun and a knife were found in their bags.
Ikhaire alleged that the defendants confessed to being members of a secret society, Eiye confraternity.
The alleged offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 296 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
