The management of Iconic Nigerian hip-hop artiste Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as Tuface (2baba) has described the rumour making rounds on the internet that the artiste impregnated a banker as false and malicious.
Following the African Queen singer’s public apology to his wife and family for causing them embarrassment, a rumour has been going viral that the artiste has impregnated a certain banker.
Debunking the claim, Tuface’s manager, Efe Omorogbe, on behalf of the artiste’s record label, Now Muzik, cleared the air on the alleged pregnancy rumour.
In a statement titled “2BABA: PREGNANCY REPORT IS FAKE NEWS” and posted on Efe Omorogbe Instagram account, the management maintained that the reason behind the 2face apology post was not because he has impregnated anyone and urged the media and members of the public to disregard the purported pregnancy rumour. Police arrest 4 suspected carjackers terrorising Lagos communities (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested suspected car snatchers terrorising the Iba, Igando and Egbeda axis of the state.
The state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said in a statement on Saturday the male suspects were arrested by detectives in the Igando axis of the state.
He identified the suspects as Victor Chibuike, 26, aka Azaman; Kingsley Ndubuisi, 33, aka kango; Augustine James, 29, aka Edo boy, and Lateef Babatunde, 33.
Hundeyin said the arrest followed the launch of an investigation after receipt of a report on August 7 that hoodlums stole a 2010 Lexus RX 350 SUV, 2006 Toyota Camry saloon car, an iPhone and other valuables at gunpoint. Read more

It was a mixture of joy and happiness when actress, Linda Osifo visited the Living Fountain Orphanage (LAO) in Lagos State recently to celebrate her birthday. The beautiful actress who exuded grace and cheerfulness at the outreach in commemoration of her 31st birthday through her philanthropic organisation — the foundation, donated computers to the orphanage in support of the e-learning Initiative.
Osifo, while speaking about the foundation, said it was established out of the desire to provide shelter, succour, clothing, emotional care and hope for a better future for the motherless, abandoned, underprivileged and the poorest of the poor children in our society — became the beneficiaries of the E-learning facilities that were donated this year.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the orphanage, Mr Michael Amedu, the social worker said: “This donation will help the students develop their creativity, and now that the children are on their summer break, these facilities will help them continue their studies even as they are on holiday and away from school”.
Osifo while addressing the officials of the home, remarked that her dad was also an orphan at the young age of six and had to go through a lot of things and he is the reason she created this initiative, apart from a determination to help the needy and make the world a better place. In her words: “I am willing to continue this life-changing endeavor with the hopes to help all less-privileged children around Nigeria with more computers and other e-learning tools to help eradicate illiteracy.” Read more
Train Attack: Our abductors preached to us in captivity, encouraged us to pray – Freed Victim (DailyTrust)
Hassan Aliyu, one of the victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack who stayed in captivity with his Pakistani colleague, before they were released after a series of negotiations, says while in captivity, their abductors preached to them and encouraged them to pray.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Aliyu said he had no problems with praying, as their abductors always asked them to pray for their release.
He said, “There was no problem about prayers; we were never harassed in any way. It was just the feeling that you were not free because wherever you wanted to go you must take permission. Whatever you want to do you must ask for permission. The only time you don’t ask for permission is when you want to interact among yourselves.”

Lagos reintroduces history in schools’ curriculum (Punch)
The Lagos State Government has directed heads of private schools in the state that the teaching of History as a stand-alone subject has been re-introduced to schools.
This was disclosed on Saturday, in a memo addressed to owners and heads of private schools by the Director of Research at the Office of Education Quality Assurance of the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Mrs Esther Pelumi.
The memo, which was made available to the Sunday PUNCH, noted that while history as a subject was compulsory for both primary and secondary school classes, it is an elective subject in the senior secondary school.
It read in part, “I have the directive of the Director General (QEQA) to inform you that the teaching of History as a stand-alone subject is back to schools. Read more
Lagos LP kick against of imposition candidates

Following the ongoing primary elections in Lagos state, after the Independent Electoral body had conducted and concluded primary elections across all the states.
Lagos state Labour Party (LP) raised an alarm that some persons who were not members of the party are imposing fake candidates to conduct another election.
Briefing Pressmen in the Labour Party Congress House, Yaba, Comrade Adesegun Adelana (Aluta), a candidate of the party said the party had its primary elections on May 26, 2022 in all the Local Government Area that produced the authentic candidates.
Adelana described any other Labour party in Lagos state as fake, saying, “we are the authentic candidates and members that are recognised by our party state and national and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).” Read more

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has called for a rebranded and united All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State.
Onyeama who stated this during an interactive meeting with members and stakeholders of his pet project, Kwusike Political Family in Enugu said his desire is to see a rebranded and united APC in order to win all elections in the state come 2023
He expressed worry that members of the party in the state had not learnt from the mistakes of the past that made them lose previous elections.

Government engages stakeholders over Opebi-Mende Link Bridge project right of way (Guardian)
The Lagos State government, on Saturday, said that it has engaged stakeholders in discussions toward the smooth establishment of the Right of Way (RoW) for the construction of the Opebi-Mende link Bridge in Ikeja.
A statement by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development said that the project was a priority of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.
The spokesperson of the ministry, Mr. Mukaila Sanusi, quoted the commissioner in the ministry, Dr. Idris Salako, who led the stakeholders during the meeting as saying that the construction of the Opebi-Mende link Bridge and approach roads would ease gridlock and improve the transportation network in line with the THEMES agenda of the Lagos state government.
“It is a known fact that the people are the ultimate beneficiaries of development projects like this. As promised through the THEMES agenda the government led by Sanwo-Olu will continue to take concrete steps toward ensuring the delivery of the dividends of democracy to our people. Read more
Resign, public funds not for promotion of candidate, CSOs tell Keyamo (Leadership)
Civil Society Organisations in Nigeria have asked the minister of labour and productivity, Festus Keyamo to resign, stating that he can’t be using public funds to promote a presidential candidate.
Nigeria’s electoral laws forbid politicians from using public funds or resources at the detriment of their political opponents in the electoral process.
Also, Section 84 (12) states that political appointees and other public servants aiming for elective positions are to resign.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has announced Keyamo as spokesman of his campaign team, an office he has since assumed. Read more

Shazam! actor DJ Cotrona will reunite with his co-star Zachary Levi for Netflix’s Spy Kids reboot.
According to Deadline, the actor has joined the cast for the reboot movie, directed by Robert Rodriguez. Cotrona has also worked with the director and previously starred in the TV adaptation of Rodriguez’s Dusk Till Dawn.
The reboot of 2001 family action film Spy Kids will star Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Zachary Levi as the parents.

FBI forensic report on Alec Baldwin shooting concludes trigger must have been pulled (UPI)
The trigger on the gun used in the fatal shooting on the set of Alec Baldwin’s film “Rust” last year must have been pulled, according to a forensic report from the FBI.
Baldwin, 64, made headlines last year when he fired the .45 Colt single-action revolver which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the New Mexico film set. The Golden Globe-winning actor, who was producing and starring in the movie, previously said that he didn’t pull the trigger.
The forensic report, which was obtained by ABC News, found that the gun, when fully cocked, could not be made to fire “without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional.”
The weapon would also not fire with the hammer in quarter- and half-cock positions, according to the report. It could be made to fire without the pull of the trigger if the chamber was loaded and the de-cocked hammer was struck directly. Read more

John Boyega signed up to star in The Woman King because it gave him the opportunity to speak in his father’s African accent.
The upcoming American historical epic film tells the story of the Agojie, the fearless all-female warrior unit who protected the African kingdom of Dahomey in the 19th century. Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, Thuso Mbedu and Sheila Atim portray the warriors alongside Boyega as King Ghezo.
In an interview with Men’s Health magazine, Boyega, the British-born son of Nigerian immigrants, explained that using an African accent on screen was a huge selling point.

Dog mauls mother and 2 children and ‘owner is arrested’ (Metro)
A mum and her two children have been attacked by a dog, with the supposed owner arrested for allegedly assaulting a third child.
One onlooker reportedly claimed they saw a woman and two boys ‘covered in blood and bite marks’ following the ‘domestic’ incident in Derbyshire.
The mother, in her 20s, is said to have been assaulted as well as bitten.
Her two sons suffered bite marks, while a third boy also under the age of 16 was also left harmed. Read more

Female footballers, officials abducted, kidnappers demand N30m (Punch)
Six people, which include players and officials of a grassroots female team, were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen in Uronigbe, a border Edo and Delta states in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
Our correspondent learnt that the six victims were kidnapped around 6pm on Friday, while returning from a game at Owa-Alero in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State.
A source in the community said the kidnapers had contacted some families demanding a ransom of N5m each for the victims.
He said, “They (footballers) went to Owa-Alero to play a football match, but on their way back, they were kidnapped at Uronigbe area, the boundary between Delta and Edo. Read more
