A predawn multiple vehicles accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway has left three people dead and four others unhurt.
The crash which occurred at about 03:15 am on Wednesday involved three vehicles with registration numbers BDJ257XF (Micra car), T4916LA (Truck) and an unmarked truck.
It was learnt that the accident happened when a truck was trying to negotiate a turning point and another truck coming from the direction of Ibadan rammed into it and the ensuing chaos, the Micra car was affected.
Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe FRSC who is the Public Education Officer for Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command, disclosed this on behalf of the Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar.
Umar described the crash as an avoidable act and identified suspected cause as excessive speed and reckless driving.
“A total of 07 persons were involved which comprises of 01 female adult and 06 male adults. 03 persons were recorded dead all male adults and the remaining persons were unhurt and no injury recorded.
“The suspected causes of the multiple crash were excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of one of the truck who was trying to negotiate a turning point and the other truck coming from Ibadan with high speed rammed into the vehicle.
“The corpses were deposited at FOS IPARA.
“The Sector Commander reiterated the dangers of speed especially when visibility is poor and he also caution motorists on night travel pointing out the dangers associated with it. He advised motorists to drive cautiously avoid speed and obey traffic rules and regulations,” she stated.
The Sector Commander commiserated with the family of the victims and advised them to contact FRSC Ogere for more information about the accident. (Nation)
