Bandits, who abducted dozens of schoolgirls from Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State two years ago, on Friday, released four of the remaining 11 girls in their custody.
The four girls released were Faiza Ahmed, Afusat Murtala, Bilahah Musa and Raman Abdulfatahi.
Confirming the information to newsmen, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi, the Chairman of the 11 parents of the abducted children’s Forum Association, Salim Kaoje, thanked the people and philanthropists, who supported them throughout their struggle for the release of the children.
He appealed to the government to come to the aid of the remaining seven children.
He said: “We contributed millions of Naira to the bandits for the release of those children. Other committee members are still in the bush for the struggle of the release of the remaining seven girls.”
One of the parents, whose daughter was released, Mrs. Sarah Musa, expressed appreciation to God for the girls’ safety. She urged the people to pray for the release of the remaining female students.
She said: “Let me tell you now that some of the parents of the remaining girls are no more alive. It is two years since they were abducted. Thank God that my daughter is among those released. We will continue to pray for the release of the remaining ones.” (Guardian)
