4 injured as penthouse collapses at Samsung building in Abuja (Tribune)
A segment of the Samsung building under construction at Banex Junction, Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II District, Abuja, has collapsed.
The incident occurred during the casting of the penthouse segment of the three-story structure.
While no lives were lost, four out of the ten construction workers on site sustained minor injuries and were taken to Wuse District Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Read more
706 ballot boxes, others destroyed as fire razes INEC office in Delta (Vanguard)
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has confirmed a fire incident at its office in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
In a post on its official X handle on Tuesday, the Commission stated that about 706 ballot boxes, 50 election bags, 322 apron vests, and other items were destroyed.
According to the post, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Delta State, Mr. Etekamba Udo Umoren, confirmed the incident in a report. Read more
Court admits Mompha’s iPhone as exhibit in money laundering trial (Punch)
The Ikeja Special Offences Court, on Tuesday, admitted further evidence in the ongoing trial of Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha.
Mompha is facing trial over alleged N6bn money laundering before Justice Mojisola Dada.
He is being tried, alongside his company, Ismalob Global Investment Limited, on eight counts bordering on conspiracy, retention of proceeds of crime, failure to disclose assets and properties, possession of documents containing false pretences, the use of properties derived from unlawful acts, and laundering of N6bn, preferred against him, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Mother of late Dowen College student Oromoni dies (Leadership)
Rosemary, the mother of Sylvester Oromoni, the student of Dowen College who died due to alleged bullying, has died after complications related to intermittent blood pressure issues.
A source close to the family disclosed that Rosemary passed away in late November after seven months since a Lagos coroner’s court dismissed the family’s case in April 2024.
Her health reportedly deteriorated following the emotional toll of the prolonged case and its eventual dismissal. Read more

Nigerian Senate passes MTEF/FSP for 2025-2027 (VON)
The Nigerian Senate has considered and passed the 2025/2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) forwarded to it by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The passage followed the consideration of a report presented by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa, during plenary on Wednesday.
The Upper Chamber approved the expenditure framework with a total spending of ₦47.9 trillion and a new borrowing plan of ₦9.22 trillion which includes both domestic and foreign borrowings. Read more
Tension in Osun as gunmen kill farmer on disputed land (Vanguard)
Tension is escalating between the Ilobu and Ifon communities in Osun State following the killing of a farmer, Onaolapo Sikiru, an indigene of Ilobu, on a disputed parcel of land in Oke-Ekutu.
The two neighboring towns have been embroiled in a land dispute for over a decade, with multiple attempts at resolution failing to yield results.
According to the Ilobu community, gunmen allegedly from Ifon attacked and fatally shot Sikiru, who was working on his farm. Chief Leke Ogunsola, spokesperson for the Olobu Palace, claimed that the victim identified his assailant as one Muideen Alabata from Ifon before succumbing to his injuries. Read more

The five-year-old MoU was structured to monitors threats of violence, acts of criminality, and reprisals involving nationals of both countries.
A statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the decision was revealed on Tuesday in a communiqué released at the end of the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape town. Read more

The new trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of “Snow White” has officially been released, showcasing more of Rachel Zegler’s vocals, the seven dwarfs and Gal Gadot’s villainous turn as the evil queen.
The film is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man) and is the latest Disney remake. Following the 1937 animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, this newest iteration of the story follows Snow White after the jealous wicked queen, who also happens to be her mother, orders her murder. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s government early Wednesday lifted the martial law he imposed during a tense night of political drama in which troops surrounded parliament and lawmakers voted to reject military rule.
Yoon said his government withdrew military personnel following a bipartisan parliamentary vote that rejected martial law, and the measure was formally lifted around 4:30 a.m. during a Cabinet meeting. In all, martial law was in effect for about six hours.
Late Tuesday, Yoon imposed martial law out of frustration with the opposition, vowing to eliminate “anti-state” forces as he struggles against opponents who control the country’s parliament and who he accuses of sympathizing with communist North Korea. Read more
